Hi all,

I have been hitting too many walls while trying to make a working translucent shader for the flower, rendering with PBR. My vex knowledge is very very limited. Through researching on the forum, and looking at sample files from others, I was able to change the shader up to this point.

I have created two way diffuse shader with a flower veins mask. I added a translucency scale to control the amount of veins' translucency but doesn't seem to be working. And I don't think the back color of the petal is being transmitted to the front either. I colored the nodes I changed to pink color. I feel like the shader is getting closer to working. Really really really hope someone could help me with this shader question!!!

Thank you!!

You might check on CMI VFX - they have a Materials and Shading tutorial that covers translucent materials, it's not hard to make, but it's not obvious either and off the top of my head I can't recall how to do it. But the video is REALLY good to have and walks you through making a number of different shaders.

Thanks Jim,

I am not sure which cmivfx tutorial you are referring to. But I have looked through the orange juice and shading tutorial they have on there, it doesn't quite solve my problem............ :( :( :(
