Dear odforce,
Is there a way to render lines in Houdini with rounded ends?  With additive transparency? I can render lines, and render the points at each end to round them off.  But when transparency added to the mix I can see the overlap where the two intersect.

The solution needs to be efficient, as there are potentially millions of lines to be rendered... and not be a post-render solution, either.

Anything I've overlooked?

Perhaps not the most elegant solution, but have you tried converting your lines to polys and enabling the "Polygons as Subdivision (Mantra)" option in the Render->Geometry tab of the object's scene-level geometry node?  Haven't checked with transparency, etc. - just a thought....

Thanks a lot!  That forum thread pointed me in the right direction.  I had completely overlooked using displacement.
