hey,
as with capture mode metaball for muscles, the option to append weights, like with proximity, is greyed out.
is there a way to append some muscles weights to an excisting bones weighted rig?

no.
because the there are 2 deform SOPs you can only use one to deform your character - either bone or muscle...
having a single deform SOP that will do both has been an RFE since the muscle system was first demoed...no love yet.

Yap, it's sucks that Houdini is really behind when it comes to character deformers and tools. Hope they will fond some time to upgrade character tools a bit in next version.
