    Update: i managed to make it running (hopefully) on all Operating systems not just Linux.     Sorry but you dont think about my idea for one second. You can use Houdini than you can build a Pipeline within Houdini to direct connect via Phyton with the Blender Renderengine and if not you can easily transfer Data from Houdini to Blender. Houdinis Renderer Mantra is good, and special for some special Cases, but you will fail in daily bussines. Vray or Blender are the only render engines where you can push two or three buttons and you get a very nice render in a short period of time. Try this in Houdini you will fail in architecture Renderings. Houdini is to complex for fast workflows. So Try to Combine it like the big studios. Build big networks in Houdini than cach it out via Alembic / FBX or Obj sequences. I know Houdini for more than 8 Years i know what iam talking about. Sorry to say that, but Mantra needs A GPU Support and a much more simpler rendering Algo. cui....

    Sorry to say, but epic Fail. Cuda technology is the future. I am Freelance Artist i use my 550 TI every Day for Rendering complex shots and complex Situations. But not inside Houdini. Houdini got no Cuda Renderengine. I use Blenders Renderer Cycles for Rendering. Sometimes Iam 5 times faster than others... i make the money and they cry;) I can lit in Realtime, i can Shade in realtime, i can Animate in Realtime, i got a Realtime Material View and i can see a problem before i have to wait. i Got my Own Benchmark. I Render a Scene of a Car i have made: Full HD Photoquality: Houdini Mantra PBR = 4,57 Hours. 3dsmax Vray 6,34 Hours Blender: 9,92 Min. Same visible Quality;) Cheers.

    I dont wanna say hate, but Autodesk is getting something bad in the last years, they buy every software, they do everything to get full power over the 3d marked and that is bad for development of new technologies. I went away from all autodesk products because every release got more and more bugs since the one before. Now iam using Blender and Cylces and Houdini and believe that it was a big mistake to use a autodesk product in the past.

    I can say you are right. I am 3d User since my twelfe birthday. Nearly 15 years. I have worked with maya with 3dsmax cinema4d and lightwave in the past years. And my experience is that alot of Maya or 3dsmax users are think their software is best for everything. And i think its very funny. In Germany some of the clients think you cannot do the job without using 3dsmax.?!? Thats bullshit and i think its one of the main reasons that some guys think they have to use this software or not. I am now working with Blender as my Main Software. I think the new renderengine Cylces in Blender is raising the bar alot, so i combine it with Houdini and thats my way. And everyone who think's that this or that is the best solution for every job fails alot and will not be at the market for long time. cheers;)

    Sorry to say that. Everyone Cry to have some additions or other stuff...No Package like Houdini got more connections to Software outside.!!! If you not able to create a good pipeline then think about and build some. And btw... Houdini is a professional software, and After FX is not really.. Try to Use NUke,Fusion, or even Houdini Halo. Sorry for my hard words but i cant hear it any more... bye

    Dont be afraid of asking. There are no stupid questions on earth!You use Houdini - a stupid person cannot find the button to open this peace of software.

    Hi, i build a crowd setup for not complex scenes. And i got a basic concept wich is a mixture of peter's Crowd instancing and some other ideas from vimeo( from Derek Dintzner): . Everything is working fine, but i need a small advice: -> How can i form the army to a line maybe formation -> i want every agent dynamic but i wanna decrease the rotation angle so that they cannot turn back if i dont want it!-> i hope it helps to stop that circle moving of the particles. ... for testers: make shure that you reset the caches after changing the setup. everything works with caches. so i need some advice.. and i wanna hold it simple, i don't wanna have a lot nodes without doing something;) Clear and simple is best so i cut all in three geometry objects. crowdsimulation.hip

  12. PBR GLASS Black areas

    pbr can be a time saver when you dont need a clean image. A image without noise is with pbr not possible in short time. And in Commericals there is no time for 1 hour Rendering on 1920x1080!if you got alot of layers with the short deadlines today you have to use raytrace or micropoly so you got similar results with rendertimes about 5 - 15 min a frame. noise in an image sux^^ bb
  13. How can maya load houdini volume

    i dont know but i believe its not possible because maya handle a volume not like houdini does. and why you wanna create a volume in houdini and then copy to maya? that makes no sense because the fluid rendering in Houdini is much faster, maya is so slow. i think its easier that you export the camera to houdini and all the objects then render as fluid pass

    thats amazing....uferi THANK you so much.great idea and solution.I've seen this Vimeo Video a couple month ago. in the last 2 hours i had some other approach based on uferis curves. i tried to mimik the softimage version. and that is it. I think its another good way to Design alot of large shorewaves. - You can design the shorewaves with the pieces then all will get combined in One Wave, so its possible to creat shorelines around a island. - I add a attach helper to each edge of the wave too. - A grap Sphere and a selection sphere mimik the individuality, you can control the shape with that sphere - its fast because you edit and sculp the low poly and after stiching all pieces you get the final wave. - attention: - Stitch of pieces only possible via convert to nurbs -> stitch -> convert back: if you use poly stitch it dosent work right way - For testing: Dont move any objekt without "Move_" tag. and now after reading this last reply, i believe someone will mix up both;) or maybe..someone find a better solution... i love both and of course mine too^^ thanks alot uferi!!!
