  1. fetch previous velocity in FLIP

I am doing some test and thinking about to use the fluid to get the overall motion but wanna add some control to each point. My problem is: I don't wanna any points have dramatic velocity direction change from frame to frame. My question is: Is there a way I can fetch previous velocityl vector in the flip sim, so that I can use it to force current vel only change withing certain rang.
  2. Moving N group with N Points.

Hey, I dont know if I understand ur question or not. However, i think if u just wanna move or rotate ur geo according to the pts, u can just use copy sop and turn on "use template point attribute". Then, ur geo will inherit the attribute from the pts. example_tong.hipnc
  3. Thanks, Ben! I really wish Houdini can output certain parameter in a layer of exr img. For the render farm, I thought their is an option in Houdini's HQ which automatically copy the hip file to the render directory. I might be wrong cos I didn't really use HQ for any final project render. I am still using a old way which is ssh to different machine for render. Still thanks for the answers and helps.

  6. Hi there, I was wondering is there a good way to output parameter info to my render test pic? I am doing my render test and twist a lot of parameter in my shader. Sometimes, i get good results. However, after a long day test make my brain broken and I can't remember all the setting I had for that render. I used to use font sop display certain channel on top of my render. I was talking to my friend this morning and he said if exr can use one channel to export all the settings or shop setting, it will be awesome. Do you guys have any smart solution or tricks for my question? Thanks!
  7. snapping a wire

Thanks, that is exactly what I want. I miss the last constraint which is use geo2 constain geo1.
  8. snapping a wire

Thanks for the suggestion, zach. Here are two very simple set ups I made but I am still having a problem breaking the wires. Do you have ideas on how to solve this problem? Thanks, Tong Le wireConstraint.hip wireConstraintGlueSolver.hip
  9. snapping a wire

Hi there, I have been trying to create a stretchy gum effect which tears later. My initial idea is using a line with 3 points as a wire with pin constraints on the end points. But, I am a little confused how to handle the middle point to make the wire snap. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tong Le
  10. animate a cord (wire solver?)

    Thanks, Ben!
  11. animate a cord (wire solver?)

I wanna animate the cord of my toaster. The cord will move around the floor and try to find the outlet to plugin itself. I come up with couple ways to do it. 1. rig my cable and hand animate it. The problem will be that the motion is not so real 2. using DOPs wire solver. 3. maybe try CHOPs to give the motion to the whole cable? Anybody has suggestions? Thanks, Joyce
  12. collisions in the ripple solver

Hi Doc, You should use the attribute "conservation" in the ripple solver. This attribute means the ability to ripple. As you can see, in the ripple solver, conservation is set as 1. How to: 1. group the water surface which is inside or we can say under your boat. tip: under group sop, enable the bounding Object(point only) and set your group entity to Point. 2. add conservation attribute to this group. If the point in the group, set to 0, otherwise should be 1. 3. then, you can set this one as your initial surface for ripple. Hope this helps you! -Joyce
  13. Snow creating

What kind of snow you wanna create? Still environment or snow falling from sky? I think these are different ways to do them. If it is still, you should focus on the shader writing(i think). For the falling one, you may need copy stamp(my opinion). -Joyce
  14. use img info to generate geo

    Thanks, Ben! It is great!
  15. How can I group geo by its color. For instance, I have a pic which are random black and white blocks. I wanna group blk face together. Currently, I have Cd attribute in the grid. Thanks!
