  1. Hi everyone I am battling to remove a strange artifact showing of a dark dot and sometimes a dark line when compositing the emission layer in Adobe after effects and Davinci Resolve I have attached the simplified houdini file with the sky texture and its ready to render to see where the problem is So, I render the following AOVs from Houdini 18.0.532 using the latest redshift 3.0.27 I render the following aovs as exr: beauty_aux.exr diffuse.exr emission.exr gi.exr reflection.exr refraction.exr specular.exr z.exr The sky image is an exr which I applied on a redshift dome light inside houdini I follow the guideline on how to composite all these aovs into a final image in Adobe After Effects and Davinci Resolve and i place the layers in the following order: diffuse, + gi + specular + reflection + refraction + emission The emission aov ends up showing a dark spot especially arounnd the area where the sub is at its brightest sometimes it even shows an entire dark line again around the area in the image where the sun is supposed to be at its brightest this artifact only appears when I switch my project setting to run on 32bit per channel and even when i try to load the beauty aov exr, i get the same dark spot so this issue is not just limited to the emission aov Then moment i switch the project to run on 8bit per channel, the dark dot and dark line artifacts dissapear but then in Adobe after effects, i end up losing the ability to bring back the sky colour and details, the image ends up looking flat and even when i adjust the curves on the colours, the image remains flat looking Thank you __Sky_Artifact.rar render.zip
  2. Hey folk, I'm trying to export a camera and nulls from Houdini to AE. I installed this, but since the last update was 2017, I'm guessing it doesn't work with Houdini 18. I'm getting this error when I try to run it: Traceback (most recent call last):Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "houdini_2_ae", line 1104, in show File "houdini_2_ae", line 470, in __init__ AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'group' File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "houdini_2_ae", line 1104, in show File "houdini_2_ae", line 470, in __init__ AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'group' Does anyone know how to fix this or if there are other methods to export the camera?
  3. Hello; When I export a flipbook as a Quicktime file (MPEG4 codec), After Effects can't read it and makes error displayed in image bellow. (VLC player, plays my file without any problem). Any idea? Thanks.

  6. Hey guys, I'm currently looking at FX TD career opportunities in New York. I'm open to working freelance, either on-site or remotely, and long term positions. My experience is nearly 2 years using Houdini. It was taught as the main software in my Master's program - Digital Effects at Bournemouth University, UK. After my graduation, I worked at Framestore NY on TV, commercials and VR. I had a 6 month contract with Framestore, which unfortunately they weren't able to renew due to scheduling and budgeting. References available upon request. In my time using Houdini, I have created a wide array of effects to a high level. These include: fluids, cloth, smoke, hair & fur, RBDs, soft bodies, particles, pyro/volumes. I also have a excellent knowledge of the vfx pipeline due to my professional experience and having worked on my own personal projects during my student days. I have extensive experience in Nuke and PFTrack, as well as 3DS Max, Maya, After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop. Please see my links below for my showreel and other details. I have eligibility to work in both US and UK as I have dual citizenship. Showreel | Linkedin | Vimeo | Portfolio | Resume Cheers, Mark

  8. Hi, this formula is about offsetting animation of several objects (or points, etc.) over a period of time, in such a way that the interval of time for each object is related to number of objects and the desired period of time. Let's say you have 10 objects, and you want to animate all of them over 3 seconds, with some time offset for each object. With this formula you can change the number of objects, adjust the amount of offset or adjust the period of time, and each object will automatically adjust its start and end time, so all object animation will fit within the specified period of time. Recently, I started learning Houdini and VEX. I was curious to see the application of this formula inside Houdini. then I found this thread: http://forums.odforce.net/topic/24056-learning-vex-via-animated-gifs-bees-bombs/ in the example of Twisting Box, matt uses "smooth" function. this is what I was looking for: smooth() function in Houdini is the equivalent to ease() function in AfterEffects.
