  1. Hi ! I'm working on a rig, completed with Rigging series tutorials made by Michael Goldfarb. I've got two scans of an arm, open and bent one. Unfortunately elbow deformation is troublesome. I followed these videos : https://vimeo.com/221779886 and https://www.rokandic.com/houdini-rigging-techniques-ii The first video made by Ramteen presented a method with sopcreateedit -d name sop1 sop2 Using command with -d didn't work, so I did without. sopcreateedit name sop1 sop2 Trying the command with -d resulted with an error, it couldn't find a deform node. I assume this is a key-step to achieve the proper result.. The directory was right, otherwise I wouldn't have extracted anything at all. Without any further ado I'm atatching self-explainatory image, representing the issue. When I tried Rok Andic approach with Shape Difference node, it didn't work at all... only errors in CHOP NET saying improper SOP input. Even having all capture attrs intact Does anyone have an idea what's the solution? Maybe you could help? @Ramteen@michael Many thanks in advance!
  2. Hey wonderful people ! I can't figure out how to use blendshapes on crowd agents. When i use the agent button in the crowd shelf, my blendshape appear in the intrinsic attribs of my agent, also comes it's value. I manage to change that value with the vex function "setagentchannelvalue" but the shape of my agent doesn't change at all. Here is a quick example Thank you. Crowd_BlendShape.hipnc
  3. Hello guys, I am trying to recreate a tangent space blend shape in Houdini. Coming from Maya, I used a lot of tangent space blend shape to correct bad poses, and if fairly simple using the shape editor in newer Maya version. Now the question is, how can I create a similar custom blend shape in Houdini? Thanks for your help Gianluca
  4. Hi everyone, I'm usualy a maya user and I'm starting to use Houdini at a personal level for the moment. My goal is to try to do a complete character facial Rigg and I'm gonna need some help I think. I usualy do a combination bones/skinning and blendshapes. I'm wondering how to mix different shapes and apply a corrective blendshape on a combination of 2, 3, 4 blendshapes for example. I saw how to connect basic blendshapes, the problem is how to call a third blendshape when you activate two shapes ? And is there a tool that enables you to sculpt a mix and extract the corrective blendshapes? Do I have to do this manually but substracting the shapes on my mix to get the corrective shape and make an expression that activate blendshape C(corrective) when mixing blendshape A and B ? The way I use to do that was by using a plugin call BCS for maya. It enables you to easily split and mix several blendshape and that what I'm looking for in Houdini. It may not be the right philosophy to try to do this way so If anyone have some experiences in this area or some advice that would be very much appreciated. Have a great day and hope to get some feedback. $ Cheers,
  5. Hi all, I can't get a skinned object with a corrective blendshape before the deform sop out of houdini via fbx. Either the skinning works, or the blendshape, not both. I tried all the combinations in the fbx export (Force Blendshape, Force Skin...). Attached is a simple setup with a ROP network containing the fbx ROP. Maybe somebody can take a look. Appreciate the help blendshape_fbx_test.hiplc
  6. Hi, I'm having a problem with fur crawling over the surface of my object when a blendshape kicks in. Any idea how to keep the points from moving while blending shapes? Can someone confirm.
  7. Hello all. I have about 30 animated points swarming through my scene. I use a blendshape to get them all lined up in their final, resting position. However, the blendshape is applying this transform to all my points at the same time and I'd like them to come in just one at a time, sequentially. Any ideas on how I can achieve this?
  8. I tried to rebuild the awesome arc interpolated shaped tool that Ahmidou Lyazidi did in Softimage a long time ago. This is very useful to remove the linear motion of face shapes without a complex rig setup. I just need to find a more elegant way to display the vectors, as well as isolating all the shape points from the static ones to group them. Please have a look and let me know how I can improve this. Here is the old video by Ahmidou https://vimeo.com/8637260 Arc_Interpolate_101_wz.hipnc
  9. Greetings to the greatest 3D community! I'd like to introduce you my new digital asset "RampBlend". The idea behind “RampBlend” is to help character riggers and animators get rid of complex muscle-systems which are often too slow, troublesome and tedious to set up. It was specifically created with the concept of “corrective blend shapes” in mind, where changes to the Blend factor trigger sequential morph targets. I'd like to thank this community and Mangi who kindly shared the base scene for my tests. Any comments or suggestions to help improve this asset are more than welcomed. You can download "RampBlend" at this url: http://www.orbolt.co.../ik_::RampBlend Introductory video (vimeo HD720): http://vimeo.com/74942919 Introductory video (Youtube HD1080):
