  1. Hi Guys, Not sure if this is a newbie question, but I'd like to create a simulation that consists of a growing points in grains. What I had in mind was to point scatter an animated alembic (From C4D) and mapped it into an AutoDopNetwork. However, the resulting effect only solved on the first frame. Is there any way to let the simulation solve on every frame equals to the amount of scatter points I have? Dave
  2. Hi all So I have a question about the new versions of the For-Each node, particularly the Numbers one, I have been following a tutorial from Anastasia Opera, and during the tutorial she uses a For-Each subnetwork node now I understand what this node is doing collecting the data from the box_id, Anastasia also gave the node a stamp name which will be used a bit later on for a blast node to specifically target some points following the local path hence why the stamp name was given to the For-Each Subnetwork node in order to lead a path towards a node that contains specific points with a number that is less than 3 which I understand is the point number and can also see it infant of me.... but now here is where I get confused in the new version of Houdini 17 the Subnetwork node has been disabled and be re-enabled but instead I would like to understand what on earth is up with the new For-Each Numbers node, it has some weird dodgy layout that just throughs me right off!! I would not mind trying to re-create the tutorial using this new node but its proving to be a challenge as I have no idea where to place the nodes that help in set things up for procedural modelling which I have tried to place things in myself but ended up with nothing but more errors. if someone could please help that would really awesome and I would really appreciate it. Kindly Ahmet .B
  3. Hey magicians, Been reading a lot on hardware and got some recommendations, I'm about to travel to buy the new hardware, but still have doubts on it. Mostly on Intel vs Threadripper (been an intel user all my life but heard great things about this AMD). Any tips? made an image with the stuff: Thanks!

  5. Hello! I can't get to work the new ocean surface setup, even with the provided scene files. I the viewport it's seems fine, but it renders flat. (and without the foam) Yes, I baked the spectra node. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There is none learning material about the new ocean surface, not a single tutorial, only the masterclass. Thanks
  6. Hi to all! I'm just starting to study Houdini, and I know I'm only at the beginning, but when I'm following some basic tutorials I see some (weird) expressions that I've never seen before. Ok, thanks to those tutorials I can get that if I need to replicate that exercise I need that expression. But how did they get it? Why that one? Why not another one? Will be I able to do that too one day, without just referencing to another exercise I already did? I'm getting scared that maybe I'm just memorizing random stuff instead of really understanding why of those actions. Was like that for all of you? I will just get use to all the expressions or if it's difficult for me now, so it'll be also in the future? Thanks for sharing Any tips or advise is well accepted
  7. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is anywhere at all in NZ to find houdini training? Everywhere seems to just focus on Max and Maya. So excluding online classes, is there anywhere in New Zealand?
  8. Hello, My name is Atilla. I'm a new member of this forum and also new in Houdini. I wanted to introduce myself as it is my first post here. I made a pop sop which includes some particles spawned from a sphere and gave them an outward velocity. Now what I'm trying to do is using them in a basic rbd setup containing a ball and drive the ball with those particles like it's exploding. I've searched the forum but because I'm new I think I coudn't even search for what I was looking for . Can anyone show me a way to do so. Thanks;
