can i install 1 quadro 5000 and 3 gtx 580 and work fine with houdini?

hello everyone, i'm new and i don't speak english, sorry.. tell me if you don't understand..

i must buy a new PC, my actually PC is broken..

i can buy a motherboard with 4 pci x slot.

i work too with octane render and i need max nvidia card..

now i want know if i install a quadro 5000 and 3 gtx 580..

where is a system for choose only the quadro 5000 for houdini?

while partners houdini say me that gtx are bad for houdini.. bug and crash frequently...

can you help me please? i'm very anxious while i must buy my pc again this week..

houdini's employee say me that houdini crash with gtx cards... houdini can work only with quadro

but on this forum, i see that some houdini's users have a gtx card...

those who use a gtx, can you say me if houdini crash and bug with gtx card??

Here is a link with a list of system requirements for Houdini. If you want to be 100% sure that Houdini runs smooth, you should consider a quadro FX card. I have had a Quadro FX 3400 for 6 years and have used Maya and Houdini, XSI with no problems.

Personally I would go for the Quadro FX 4000. It should be good bang for the bucks :-)

for octane render, it's important to have a maximum card... but if i put 3 gtx and 1 quadro, houdini don't want choose only the quadro??? there is a system for choose only 1 card and not other in houdini??

I suspect you somehow need to designate the Quadro 5000 as the primary graphics card in the system. However, I don't know how to do that. You might try searching or posting on the Nvidia forums and see if someone there has a solution.

It should be no problem at all. The viewport of a 3D application is using the primary display adapter only. I assume Houdini is simply ignoring your GTX cards. I am new to houdini so i can not assure you this, but as far as i know it is not using cuda or opencl atm.
