VHUG Wednesday Sept 25, 2013 at Image Engine.

7pm sharp (please arrive 6:45 if possible, as someone has to attend the door)

Image Engine theatre: 101 West 5th Avenue, plenty of street parking, bus #84 runs frequently nearby, easy walk from Olympic Village or Main St stations!

Featuring: Rob Stauffer from SESI showing the Houdini Engine and Clear Menser, discussing the challenges and solutions to being a one-man-band (in Houdini) at a smaller studio.

If you wish hard enough, SESI might bring swag :) No, we likely can't record it, sorry.

.. No, we likely can't record it, sorry.

i personally feel very offside-d* ( like the blue dot in wiki's 1st illustration ) while im very interesting in this event's section quoted below ,

.. , discussing the challenges and solutions to being a one-man-band (in Houdini) at a smaller studio.

why this kind of events are never shared even 6 months or 1 year later ?

thats my question . thanks !

We would like to record and share these but there are a few issues:

-the space we hold these events in is part of an active VFX studio. Which means that it needs to be MPAA certified, which means by default "no recording of any kind". We might be able to get permission somehow but none of us have the time nor energy to pursue that

-the presenters often work for other VFX studios, which means we'd have to track down their permission too. See above for time and energy issues :)

-in any case, even with permission, if someone comes out of the woodwork to challenge us, we have no liability insurance meaning me and Leo and Greg could be personally on the hook for a lawsuit. We will not risk that.

Of course when SESI hold their own events that they control, they can (and ideally should) record and share them. Even then, it's a pretty large effort, much larger than "point Iphone at stage" :)

Cheers,

Peter B
