Unfolding model

I was wandering. Would it be possible to unfold a model in Houdini?

And not just unfold but unfold and preserve UV coordinates at the same time!

For example: let's say you have a model of a car on which you painted something or applied a texture to it and you want to unfold this model for printing it out on a paper. In this case you would want that texture not to be distorted. What you need is that texture to be cut on the edges of a model that are being spread apart during unfolding.

What are your thoughts?

Could it be done with existing OPs in Houdini or here some scripting is in order?
