ScottF Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Chicago Rot VFX 2015 We are nearing completion of our independently produced feature film, Chicago Rot, and are looking for one or two full-time Houdini artists to tackle some of our more demanding shots. This is a paid gig that could last anywhere from 2 - 8 weeks - the exact timeline is malleable based on how many of the shots you are willing to take on, but we are looking for people that can start immediately. You can watch our trailer and learn more about the film at our website – chicagorot.com – but to give you some idea of where we are at, the film is picture locked and all of the shots in question are guaranteed to be in the film. We have a total of 100 shots that need work done, the vast majority of which range from 16-36 frames total. The shots are close up and medium shots of various instruments that need a lightning effect applied to them. Our lead VFX artist has already built the tools necessary to generate the lightning and created 3D models of the instruments, so the work will involve lining up the 3D models with the corresponding instruments in the shots, tracking them, generating the lightning, and exporting the EXRs for our compositing team to then properly integrate with the plate. The current tool was made as a learning experience, so we welcome any improvements and optimizations. Please let us know if you're interested, available, how many shots you would want to take on (25, 50, 75, or all 100), and what your rate would be - a flat rate please. We can provide you samples of the shots for reference and any other information you might need to make such a determination. This would also be a deadline-based project, which has some flexibility and can be set based on your availability, rate, and assessment of the difficulty of the shots.
