Other than what I can source online was wondering if anyone has some feedback, especially if you've attended. What's new and exciting?

Any noticeable trends in the world of CG, rendering, etc (other than predictably more VR, AR stuff)?

Trying to make time to go thru some of the live sessions and read some of the papers.

Not sure how long they will be posted for free

Lots to digest:)

Fwiw some critical feedback from what was posted before is that we are looking for detailed muscle results. The setup and sim times should really be worth it vs setting blend shapes.

More and more studios write their own pathtracer. Vectorization is key these days.

Pretty much everybody also has/uses a denoiser. Time to have one for Mantra?

Dark beer is the next big thing after IPA.

edit: Oh, and of course deep learning is making all sorts of inroads into the 3d world.

Could be interesting. Basically what Thea does for years (using CPU and GPU simultaneously) but in a more production oriented renderer...
Looking forward to how it actually performs.

Watched Matt Ebbs video and Anastasia Oparas so far - awesome to see how some people are wired. One writes a path tracer for thrills, the other is so into proceduralism that she even creates image frame profiles with an L-System. Simply brilliant! :-)

Cheers,

Tom
