lightning growth

Hey friends:

What is a good way to create growth for lightning geometry? I want to have the lightning start then grow to the final position, including the branches. I attached a scene with some basic lightning geo. Maybe proximity based growth where you can start with the first point then expand. Maybe sop solver?

Any ideas would be amazing,

You could drop down a Clip node and animate the distance.

unfortunately that does not work because some of the lightning branches are going down. The branch ends appear before the origin does.

Your geometry is not connected, First I tried connecting each pieces.

Next, slim the trunk and find the distance from start point.

And cut geometry using that distance attribute.

Thanks! I was able to incorporate that method into the digital asset itself, so I put the animation controls in the asset.
