creation of dust at the impact of the steps

Hello everybody
I come to you today to ask for a little help.
I would like to find a fairly "simple" "beginner" technique to get some smoke when an object (a foot) touches my groundplane.
I have a step sequence in alembic. But I miss the little idea.
I tested with rigid and debris sources but nothing conclusive for the moment.

you need to smoke for that. just create a pyro smoke src around the foot when it touches the ground and emit for one frame and let it evolve naturally. The most important thing is to set your initial smoke velocity direction right. good luck

A simple exercise could be color both geo and transfer Cd attribute to the ground via AttribTransfer Sop, Scatter some points by Cd and emit Pyro from that points.

Hello Lampay!

Attaching a hip, you should play with the Transfer attribute under Emitter  and also with the dynamics into the Pyro sim, because for testing purposes, I just used the shelf tab for billowy smoke haha.

Have fun messing around the hip!
