I am looking forwards to LEO's result-sheet . Is it possible to rate those graphics cards for Houdini? I need to balance them to the budget of mine.

:P

Now with RAEDEON 9700, the Houdini doesn't crash but often no responding--die in silence. So, I have to save the file very much frequently... sigh.....anyway, better than at school. crashing all the time without any sign.

:(:angry:

@musickent: Our result-sheet is global (specView, 3Dmark, CineBench). But if you guys have special requests and suggestions, please tell us. We have still the boards here in the office. I think we can manage some.

@Stremik: Sad but true - the Parhelia have the last place over all. The board have some benefits (support for 3 screens), but the 3d-results are not so good.

What format for the sheet do you prefere: PDF, HTML?

Hi Folks!

Finally we got all together - here is the PDF. Some notes:

1. Prices and warranty are for Germany only - please look at you local dealer.

2. We did not got all specs by the manufactures.

3. Sorry for the really small format of the table - maybe you can print it oversized.

If you have any questions - please contact us.

Cheers Tom (aka Tekknokid) and LEO

@musickent:

For the Radeon 9700 Problem.

Use the newest driver version xxx.6200 and run Houdini.

With older versions i had the same problem like you.

After an update - the problems are gone.

Hope that helps

Tom

My config:

Dell PC @ 2,53 GHz

512 MByte DDR-RAM

So are you saying Houdini runs well on a 9700 now? Do me a favor, create a grid that has 100x100 subdivisions, apply a sculpt SOP and tell me how well it works with the new drivers. It was horrendous on the old 9700 drivers I used, but runs perfectly fine on a GeForce 3. Updates are instantaneous.

@Mcronin:

Sure it works. Quite smooth - no problems.

We have test it right now. If there is still any problem, please pass me your configuration. I will try to help.

hello Tekknokid

My config is:

P4, WIN2000 pro, 1gig ddr ram, and a Radeon 9700 pro graphics card

Service pack 3 and the latest Ati 9700 pro CATALYST 3.0 drivers.

It's painfully slow. I can't believe a $600 card can suck so much at

openGL.

any suggestions!

Hi JimmyB!

Turn off VSync, Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering, perhaps that helps.

If you haven
