light linking?

yes you can exclude or include which objects are illuminated by which lights...

select your object then...

in the "object mode" under the "shading tab" you will see "Light Mask" (fifth from the top.) That is where you can specify which lights will affect that particular object...

you can also have a shadow mask in the light object that can determine which

objects cast shadows...

hope that helps

thx for your simultaneous answers! :)

I had seen these fields, but they weren't clear for me until this little precision.

just another question: where do you learn houdini? ( except from 3d buzz videos and such, I mean ). are you working in companies using houdini? I have actually heard of very few companies using this soft ( like Rhythm and Hues and a fer big ones ). does small or mid size companies use it? could you tell me a little aout that?

I can tell you I didn't need 3DBuzz to learn it!

I've explored it mostly by myself. The best resources for me were here at od[force], the SideFX site, the Australia VizLab site, SCAD's site, the Houdini PDF manuals and the Apprentice videos.
