  2. Very simple setup, I am using a popgroup to group one area and then popreplicate for only that group. As soon as I put the popreplicate node the sim changes behaviour
  3. Hello everybody, I am grouping a few partciles on a FILP sim and want to replicate a few more on a specific timeframe. As soon as I add the POP Replicate node on the node stream, the simulation changes and I don't get any replication. Does POP Replicate works only on a POP network? Any other ideas how to make more fluid on certain areas of a sim? Thank you.

  6. I am advecting with a custom vel vol, with popadvectbyvolumes. I had a thought: whenever a particle is advected, it could pick up an attribute from 0 to 1 (like attribopy in SOPs). And later with a POPwrangle, group the ones with 1. Need to research if this is possible in DOPs.
  7. Hello everyone. Is it possible to add particles to a new group as soon as they are advected e.g. from a volume? I want the particles to react differently as soon as they are advected. Thank you.
  8. Hello everyone, Doing a project where a fast moving object (car) is being surrounded and followed by particles. It's very convenient for me to freeze the car (inverse matrix), do the nice particle sims and re apply animation. The issue of course is that the particles look glued on the car when there is a sudden change of movement. Any ideas if its possible to use the inverse matrix method for a setup like this? I am thinking various solutions with my main idea being: take the car velocity, calculate acceleration, turn that acceleration into a force and apply it inverse to the particles with a lag. So even if they are attached to the animation, they will have that delayed response to sudden movement. If anyone has done something similar or have ideas for a different or more simple solution, please let me know. Thank you.

  10. Hello Atom, I just had a faulty DIMM replaced a couple of weeks ago. We did full memory+86 tests and everything was OK but only when we had XMP disabled. I am not messing with the CPU and also have disable core boost performance. Right now as I am writing, I have re-enabled XMP to see if it works better. For the moment I am rendering and its going fine. Crashes have happened to various heavy and not heavy loads. When cahcing, rendering, making a flipbook... I will try your advice and refresh the installation. Thank you very much

Hello all, I am on a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro (rev 1.1/1.2) with an AMD Ryzen 3900X, 64gigs of RAM and Linux Mint 20.3 I am having various random crashes and all the logs I sent to SESI indicate memory issues. Has anyone experienced the same? I am really looking more for stability so I am thinking going back to Intel. Any recommendations?? Thank you for your time.

I would like to ask you opinion about whick kernel to use in general or if you have any specific recommendations about Houdini, NVIDIA etc. I am on 5.4 and thinking switching 5.8. I am having various instabilities suddenly and stupid stuff like cant copy+paste on the explorer. Thank you.

  14. I ve been on Centos for the three year now due to Maya. But I haven't opened Maya for a long time now.. I am reading great reviews for Ubuntu 20.04 so I think I will follow lukeiamyourfather advice. Just need to find if Nuke is working OK.
