  1. I am not able to emit fluid from mesh that I imported as ABC from Houdini. Getting this error. I also get the same error when I apply a MEL script that applies shaders randomly. // Error: file: /Applications/Autodesk/maya2016/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/others/dynExecFluidEmitterCommands.mel line 47: Object 'file1_106' not found. Attaching the abc file as well skelly2.abc
  2. RYZEN System for Houdini

    I will definitely go for more RAM, thanks for that Advise. I have mainly been using houdini for Rigid Body Sims. So that speculation that AMD support for Open CL 2 is better than nVidia false, or doesn't apply to Houdini? As I am looking for a good overall machine that also does well the Maya, Realflow, AE etc. Thanks
  3. RYZEN System for Houdini

    I am thinking of getting a new computer for my freelance work, I am thinking of getting Ryzen 1700X + RX 480 + 32GB RAM on 2000$ budget, I have heard that AMD has better Open CL support than nVidia. I am still a little new on how Houdini uses the hardware, I tweeted to companies who develop, Real Flow & Pf Track, they recommended getting a card with better Open CL support. I am also into video editing and motion graphics, ( 2D stuff), so for that I have been using my 2011 Macbook Pro, Its given me a fairly good performance, and that's what I have been using to learn houdini, its given me a decent performance so far. Macs were horrible for using Houdini 11 to 13, but since 14 I have seen it has become more stable on Macs, sadly Apple no longer makes computers.

  5. Motion Vector Pass for Volumes Houdini

    Hi, I have been working on a motion vector pass for Volumes in Houdini specially for version13 for few days now, and after looking at some forums and and files with little bit of tweaking I have a version. Two Actually. Please look at the pass in action in the video Below. I just want to know, what more to do and what to tweak need to be done to it (& how) to make this production usable. I have uploaded the file below, if you want to look at the file/ tweak it. Please suggest, which one is more usable, the one with Full Opacity filtering or the other one? And what do I do abiut the jitter on the pass?   6. Hi, I am rendering a fluid Simulation from Houdini 12.5, I need the follwing pass into one EXR file for that fluid Beauty Pass Flat Color pass Self Shadow pass Desnity pass Shadow pass etc... I am very new to Houdini (three weeks old), I am not sure that, if I use different shaders for each pass how can I integrate them together, or add them to different takes and the combine those takes into one EXR File. I am still learning about custom shaders, I did manage to create a density pass by adding red and blue color in FireBall shader, and then used that paramter from the VEX in mantra as a seprate pass. But my primary shader as is billowi smoke, how do I combine all that into a single file Super Awesome thanks in advance.
