  1. gas advect

    Hey, guys, I have a question about gas advect field. I know sometimes we inject a custom field into the sim, we should advect it for letting the custom filed move with the sim (vel filed). For instance, we generate the color field in sop, and we inject it into dop, we need to advect it in order to make it move with the sim. But sometimes we actually don't want to advect some fields. For instance, we calculate the gradient of density field, we actually don't want to advect it. I kind of know when I should use gas advect when I shouldn't. But I really don't have a super clear understanding about it. Can anyone give me an clear explanation or give me a link or paper that I can study by myself. I also have some question about gas project nondivergent. I know it is used to keep each voxel divergence free, which means it push the extra data to adjacent voxel based on the vel direction. But, still I don't have a celar understanding about it, and I don't when should I use it, when I shouldn't. Thank you very much! Best
  2. Hey guys, I am trying to use geometry wrangle node in dop to change the initial velocity for my packed geometry when it's active attribute turned on. I have already successfully add velocity only at the frame that the object become active. But , I have multiple packed objects in my scene, so other objects will add the velocity too. Is anyone can help me to figure out how to separate them and only affect one object? Here is my file. Thank you very much.

  4. Hi, Guys. I just know is there any way for maya to render the vel channel out? I have created a campfire, but I need to use vector blur node in nuke to create motion blur. So I need to render the vel channel which is kind of the red and green picture out. But I have no idea how to do this in maya. Can any one help me? Thank you very much.

  7. Yes, I tried to turn off the displacement, then it became Ok. But my displacement is not too high. Actually, the value is 0.12. I will try to cache them out. Thank you.
  8. Timeline? Where should I write the code to change the timeline? I never used that. So I don't know where is it.
  9. I tried to do this​, and it doesn't make any difference. I tried to only render other frame by using render view. They only took me 5 or 7 min. But for 128, I waited for 30 min, and nothing happened....

  11. Hi, guys. I have a problem when I do rendering. I try to render my scene in school's computer. For other frames, each may take 2 to 5 min. But, for 128 frame, I have waited for almost 2 hours, it 's still not done. I am still waiting now. I tried to change other machine, but it doesn't make any difference. Is any one have faced the similar problem? My file is too large to post.....Sorry.
