  1. camera track to object track

thank you all so much for taking time to solve this for me!! I got more than one solutions from you guys and they helped me clarify some confusions I've been having with matrices. Very grateful!!!
  2. Hi, Something that I couldn't figure out how to do in houdini... If I have a still object and an animated camera, how can i convert it to an animated object with a still camera and still get the same result? Any help is greatly appreciated!
  3. Flipped Normal?

Hi Carlo and Follyx, Thank you very much for responding my post!! This geo is a complex geometric structure, and the flipped normal happened after a polyextrude operation with various iterations on the primitives. There are many areas that have flipped normal but I couldn't figure out a way to select / group those wrong faces. I was hoping for a magic node that could solve it all, and Facet is not it..... I will try to solve this with render. Thank you again!
  4. Flipped Normal?

Hi, I imported a geo as alembic from Houdini to Maya, and realized that some of the faces have flipped normal (displayed as black). Here I am attaching a screen grab from Houdini with the normal display turned on. I am wondering why the faces with the flipped normal are not displaying as black in Houdini, and it seems to be rendering fine. The same geo doesn't render properly, however, after imported in Maya. How can I set the normal to the face so that all normals are facing outwards....? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! yc
  5. Set Driven Animation

Hi!! This is exactly what I want! Thank you so much for taking your time responding. It made my day! yc
  6. Hi, I created this geometric pattern, where the iteration number of polyextrude is related to the value of Cd. But how can i animate this so that the primitive will start extruding as the Cd value changes? I looked at some examples of lookup Chop but still didn't figure it out. Does anyone know how to achieve this? Here is my ultimate goal : For polyextrude iterates 1 time ($CR 0.25-0.5) : Total frames of extruding: 14 F1 -F14 For polyextrude iterates 2 time ($CR 0.51-0.75) : Total frames of extruding: 28 F1-f14 (1st iteration) F15-F28 (2nd iteration) For polyextrude iterates 3 time ($CR 0.76-1.00) : Total frames of extruding: 42 F1-f14 (1st iteration) F15-F28 (2nd iteration) F29-F42(3rd iteration) I hope this makes sense.... Thanks for looking at this post. I've also attached the scene file and I really appreciate your help! yc setDriven.hiplc
  7. geometric shape

Hi Konstantin, That's a very good start for me! Thank you so much for taking the time reading the post and responding. I appreciate it very much! yc
  8. geometric shape

Hi, I am still fairly new with houdini. I've spent hours trying to figure out the best way to create this geometric pattern. Is there anyone that might know how to make it? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
  9. attribute remap

Thank you so much!! Also for the detailed sticky note explanation. Really appreciate it!
  10. attribute remap

Hi, How can I create the attribute "remap" as how it is in the screengrab? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
  11. Thank you very much Tomas! So much cleaner to use vex. I'd really like to start using it more.
  12. I was struggling for a while and then figured it out right after I posted the question. assign $CR = $PT to all the points on the 1st column attribute transfer the color value to the rest of the points add partition sop with rule "group by color" Not sure if it's the best way, but it is working.
  13. Hi, I am still pretty new to houdini and I can't figure out this seemingly easy question... I have a box poly mesh that has divisions of 12, 6, 6. I'd like create groups for points on the same x axes. How can I achieve that? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! ycc
  14. Hello, Is there a way to import curve Cd to Maya vray? I've tried to promote Cd from point to vertex in Houdini, and connected the output with vrayVertex color node in maya, which works for importing geo. With curve, I can see the colorSet output in maya, but there is no submenu for colorSet/colorName. Any help will be greatly appreciated! ycc
  15. Hi there, I have copy stamped 10 boxes on a grid, and I'd like to import them into Maya and assign them randomly with 5 different textures. What would be the best way to do this? I am thinking to create an attribute for each box, and then map this attribute to UDIM in maya. I wonder how I can access this attribute in Maya and map it to UDIM? Or is there a better way to achieve this? Any help is much appreciated!! TTB
