  1. Hello. I'm following this tutorial on droplet simulation by vfxhomeland, and at some point, being in the popnet, the tutor brings up a digital asset. I guess he's using a lower version of houdini, but for me, i have no digital assets menu when i hit tab, while in the popnet. If i go back to obj, i get the menu back and i can access the assets. But not in the popnet. Is there a change in the software, or a certain reason for this? Can anyone help?

  3. Why no beer tutorial?

Thank you very much this looks great !
  4. Why no beer tutorial?

I am a art director, with almost no math skills. I learned how to use Realflow (beginner) in hopes of doing liguid artdirection. I wasn't able to obtain what i wanted but it took me years to learn RF (as a hobby) Than i hoped that maybe houdini can help me. While i know it's obtainable in houdini, for me, as a total newb, seems impossible. My issue is that i can find a tutorial about almost anything in houdini, for simple beer and foami can find none. When i said i research for a long time (years) i meant that i learn realflow and how to use houdini, and seen tons of tutorials in order to do this. but , still becouse of my poor understanding of houdini nodes, i am not able to build what i need.
  5. Why no beer tutorial?

    thank you!
  6. Why no beer tutorial?

Hello. I've been researching this area for a long time. There seems to be almost no info on how to simulate beer in houdini. Why? Is this like a secret? Or is it becouse it's actually very easy to do? Is there any paid tutorial on how to simulate beer in houdini? If not, can anybody make one? How much would such a tutorial cost?
  7. Beer Foam

The first image is the network i manage to put toghether, but it doesn't work. The spheres get imported as a single object. The second one is the scatter inside my foam.obj I need to put much more spheres in the foam object, to fill it, and the spheres shouldn't intersect. It's not a pouring shoot. I just need to try how it renders, if it will look like foam or not. Thank you.
  8. Beer Foam

Hello, i hope i attached the file correctly.foam.hip
  9. Beer Foam

I managed to scatter a sphere inside my object, with attribrandomize, which makes the spheres different sizes, which is good. If i increase the number of scattered particles, i have to go to a very high number (20000 at least) to get the volume filled, but most of the spheres intersect which is not good. From what i search i understand i should RBD the Copysov, which is making my head spin. I don't understand this. So, my scene is like this. I have an geo1, which contains my object that i want to fill (file1), my sphere, and the scatter, isooffset and copy1. I am using my object(file1) to scatter the spheres, so how do i use it to be filled by the scattered object when i RBD. How do i RBD this ? How do i make this scattered spheres fall into my object and settle, and how do i define my object as static and as a container. I get it that houdini is great, but man, i'm stupid... i just don't get it. I literally want to cry right now, is so frustrating to me, to not understand how this software works. I know modo, 3dsmax, cinema4d, zbrush, realfow.... but it seems i have to get born again to understand this software. Please help me out guys. All i'm trying to do is to fill a container with some spheres and i lost a week.
  10. Beer Foam

Hello, i am trying to make beer foam. I have the shape of my foam and i want to fill it with different sized spheres and then make and vdb to export to cinema4d. I have a very basic understanding of houdini, but i think i can manage if i have some good advice. What would be the basic operations? How can i do it by scattering the spheres inside my mesh? How should i proceed to pour particles? How can i make my container stay in place and not fall when in pour liquid in it? I look around and i can't find anything remotelly closed to a beer tutorial for houdini. Actually i can't even find a basic fill container tutorial. Can i get some help ? Thank you guys !
  11. Boolean Help

Thank you so much for your advice guys!
  12. Boolean Help

Hello, total newbie here. please help with a quick tip. I have this one obj file, which contains around 500.000 of little spheres. Those spheres are intersecting each other all over the place. I need to import this obj in houdini, and merge together all those polygons so i will end up with just one piece of geometry. Unfortunately i can not use boolean, because all the polys (spheres) are in the same mesh (obj file) and i can not separate them. What function should i use? How should i approach this? I tried solidify but i cooked for eight hours and ... i had to stop it. Thank you for your time!
  13. I need help with pancake structure

Thank you for your tips. I'll try and get back with the result.
  14. Hello, this is my first post here. I want to ask if there is possible to achive a pancake (bread like) structure with houdini's procedurals. I am a total newibie with houdini. But i've seen this http://www.cgchannel.com/2015/11/download-houdini-engine-for-3ds-max/ and i think it's exactly the structure i need. Unfortunately for me the article is about the plugin, not about the volumetric structure. I tried anything with sss and it just doesn't work, becouse of this particular structure made of millions ob air bubbles. Can anybody give me a link for a tutorial, or a hint about what i should research to rich my goal in houdini ? Thank you !
