  1. Slow-motion Tire Burnout

Thanks a lot for the help guys!
  2. Slow-motion Tire Burnout

Hello Guys! I´m having a little trouble with a scene and was hoping you guys could help me figure it out. I´m trying to recreate this tire burnout effect. not the classical, lots of smoke everywhere, but this simple and detailed smoke. https://therealmarky.onfabrik.com/portfolio/audi-r8-spin at the moment I´m emitting some particles at the tire contact with the ground, and using them as an emitter for the smoke. The real problem comes with the slow motion. I´ve tried retiming the sim, but it wont match the animated car. I´ve tried doing the sim at the origin. smoke looks better, but its noticeable how it is moving across the scene. I´ve tried taking the time scale down to 0.5, 0.1, 0.05, 0.025. the sim slows down, but it obviously looses all the details from the microsolvers. My question is, how would you guys attack this kind of slow-motion shots? am I in the right track with the pops and timescale? Thanks a lot in advance!
  3. PC Upgrade

Awesome! thanks a lot man! I´ll check that out.
  4. PC Upgrade

Hi! thanks for the answer! well... I'm not really rendering in Houdini, so no redshift. Mostly I´d like to get faster feedback or get a little more aggressive on simulations. Most of the times Yes, I´m maxing the ram. I don't use open cl for simulations, only cpu. Do I need to get much higher than 32 Gb to actually notice the upgrade?
  5. PC Upgrade

Hi guys! I have the chance to upgrade my workstation. But I don't completely understand what would be the best choice in my case. Still learning about hardware and houdini´s performance. I´m in the advertisement Industry, and as you know, the timetable can get pretty crazy. I´m interested in improving simulation times and performance mostly. These are my specs. AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x 16-Core Processor, 37000 Mhz 32 GB 2666Mhz DDR4 (Corsair Vengeance) GTX 1080 Ti What would you do? Upgrade Graphics card? maybe getting a second one? or getting more RAM? I´m still learning about Hardware and I´m a little lost. Also If you can recommend a YouTube channel or forum where I can learn more about this stuff, I´d really appreciate it. Thanks a lot for the help! Cheers!
  6. Redshift DSO Error

thanks a lot!!! it´s working with the 17.5.460 build.
  7. Redshift DSO Error

Hi!! I was just wondering if you found a solution to this issue?? I´m having the exact same problem with the same houdini version. Thanks in advance! EM
  8. Hello Guys! Noob question... I have a character with modeled/sculpted hair, and I want to make it dynamic. The thing is. I´m using a spline for each hair chunk, and the vellum solver to make that spline dynamic. I like the motion I´m getting on the splines, but when I use the wire capture/wire deform combo, The mesh gets flattened. It follows the motion, but it looses all the volume/shape. Is there a way to keep the hair´s shape?? or am I trying to solve this the wrong way?? I hope the images below can show the issue. Thanks in advance! EM
