  1. Thanks Luke. I understand the limitations, but my main requirement this time is mobility, between work, clientele and home. Can you suggest the best one available right now, which can give a desktop-like performance with Houdini - one of HP ZBook, Alienware, Lenovo Legion, HP Omen, Inspiron 7577 ( MSI, ASUS ROG is ultra-expensive, so... Acer Helios should've been a contender, if not for their customer-support here) I personally find ZBook attractive - 17", 4 SODIMMS upto 64 GB RAM, but with Quadro3000/2200. Of late, posts on odforce have been complaining about drop in quality. Is it true? Alienware, here in India, is limited to 2 SLOTS, I.E 32gb, with 1070. When are the 8th gen laptops arriving in India or atleast Xeons? Thinkpad P50 seems to have been discontinued
  2. Hey guys, From INDIA here.... Pretty urgent.. I'm thinking of adding an i7 laptop in my home/studio, since we have an i5 desktop, and this time, I need a portable 17inch option. I've researched online and came up with these 1. Alienware 17 with nvidia 1060 16gb RAM 2. HP omen 17 with similar config as above 3. HP ZBook 17 G4 Mobile Workstation ( no SSD though ) 4. Others such as Acer predator helios 300 / Lenovo y520 / Asus Rog Strix 7xx, though not greatly inclined because either they're 15inch or poor after-work support. I might be wrong!! This is where I want you to help me zero in on the best-performer, for visual effects/dynamics in houdini, mainly. Or if you can give me even better ones, Great!!! PS: From India, so have limited models/brands compared to the US. Hence, suggestion like razer Blade, sager etc won't help..

  4. FEM - Can one use with glue?

Hi guys, I've setup an Organic Mass FEM, with an active RBD producing the deformation. The RBD while deforming the FEM, pushes it out. I would like to have the base of FEM stuck to the ground. Is it possible to use something like Glue, if so, How? Any other ideas are totally welcome.. Thanks in advance Arun
  5. Want particle to be stopped in bounding box

Hey RootBoot, I tried to stop the pop-particles with a popdrag, operating on a Group[bounding box] called "inside". Will it work for your requirement? In case you want to stop via popwrangle, instead of setting velocity to 0, why not try to scale down velocity, like v=v*0.9 , so it slows down and doesnt stop immediately - which avoids the straight line issue.
  6. Thanks for looking into it, Atom. Will see if I can improve that to a natural-looking interaction
  7. I'm learning Houdini, and am trying to do a bullet-solver RBD Fracture, with glue constraint, falling into a FLIP tank. RBD PackedObject works fine with the constraint & collides perfectly with groundplane. But when I make them fall into a flip tank, the pieces explode at the frame where they touch the water. Feedback scale is set to 1. Tried a default RBD sphere with Flip, and though I can control the Flip interaction with the "Physical" tab, the Sphere bounces still as if on hard ground. Can somebody help me with this? [ Attached a sample fileRBDFlip001.hipnc]
  8. Hey guys, I'm doing a blood seeping/absorbed on a tissue. Have done one with AttribWrangle & Solver based of a tutorial. The logic is a. points selection, b. blood starts to grow from selected points by choosing neighbors While it works with a point selection at the Solver StartFrame, I would like to improve the point selection step, with a dynamic selection like where a newer bullet[animated sphere] touching the surface should start spawning the blood. New to Solver & need your help on this. Thanks in Advance Arun bloodSeep_v01.hipnc
