  1. hello i want to be able to render the UV texture that houdini generates when you add a uv texture node, then UV quick shade. that UV renders out in mantra but doesnt in redshift. Whats the solution? I want to be able to apply this only to one object. i posted on the redshift forums and was told that I need to use custom AOVS (https://www.redshift3d.com/forums/viewthread/24023/) but i still dont understand how to use the UVW map from the object, into something that can be used in the AOV. I attached a file of a random object that im trying to apply this to, if anyone could help me out or explain the process to me that would be really great. rendering_uvw_inredshift.hipnc
  2. hello, new to redshift rendering. why does redshift render totally different colors than the original ones in the viewport? an example would be a simple skylight. why are the colors so off? what can i do to fix this? first two pictures are a simple scene of a skylight and a sphere with a redshift stereoscopic camera. the colors of the skylight in the render dont match the viewport. second pictures: ive been working on this scene in houdini mantra. renders looked great but the time it was taking was unacceptable so I've acquired redshift and introduced the same scene to redshift. it renders a lot faster but all the colors are off. I'm in the process of switching materials. for the imported fbx materials im using this really helpful code below, and I'm recreating the standard mantra materials into redshift ones. but the main concern right now is the skylight as its affecting everything. how do i fix this? thank you!

    the third image I attached in the previous post is a mantra render. which is what I want the scene to render as. I couldn't render it with mantra as it was taking a crazy amount of time just to render that one frame. the image before that is a redshift render using the exact same environment light and skylight. the materials aren't showing up even though I've created new redshift materials and the colours of the skylight are off. (blue looks darker, grey looks brown) and the overall lights of the scene are off. I turned on brute force for both and followed these directions for setting up the GI (http://www.haruvfx.com/post/20) it still looks like the second image. anything else I can try?

    thanks for your reply, i think its a color shift issue, please see the difference in the attachments. I've adjusted the gamma to 1.0 in the render shift rop as you suggested. im also still trying to figure out the colors - any advice on that would also be appreciated. second image is redshift, last image attached is a render in mantra with vr camera.

    dude!! cant tell you how grateful I am. it works perfectly. been trying to figure this out forever. huge thanks !!!!!!!!!!! one last question, i have several objects to apply this script to, would i have to create individual scripts for each object? also, my skylight renders out totally different colors in redshift than it does in mantra, is this normal? thanks so much

    thanks hernan for your prompt reply. i tried adding the objParms to all the objects i have in my scene. I also changed the type of my materials to Redshift materials instead of principle shader, but none of my materials work. alot of the objects are imported FBXs with materials. Please see below screenshot of render in mantra and redshift. What can i do to make my materials visible? thanks in advance!

    can you please clarify on how to add objparms to objects? I built a complex scene in mantra and I just downloaded redshift but none of the materials are rendering. I created the materials in the material palette before downloading redshift. what can I do?

  10. hello, I'm new to houdini and i've gotten myself in some trouble where I have a model that was made and textured in 3ds Max, but I would like to know how to reattach the textures properly into houdini. exporting it an as a fbx with embedded material from 3ds max does not read in houdini. I have all the texture files but have no idea how to go about this. this is part of my thesis project so it needs to be done and im feeling super stuck so would really appreciate any kind of help, I've attached a jpg of how the model should look like, the houdini file, also a file that contains the 3ds max file with all of the textures if theres really no way of exporting it with textures from 3ds max then can you give me any kind of advice on how to start implementing the jpgs in houdini? i am familiar with texturing but very basic stuff.     Hello, Ive been trying to animate this polygraph, I want the paper to be able to roll on to the ground. I've tried playing around with bend and vellum but can't seem to get it to smoothly roll on to the ground. Im fairly new to Houdini but Im desperately trying to figure out a simple way to make this work, any help or advice on how to make this in the simplest way would be appreciated. Thanks :-)
