  1. Growth animations?

    Wow incredible reference points there, thanks @Librarian I've since understood exactly what I want. I want to create, as seen here, https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=6721 I tried some of the ideas that these people have done - like the differential line growth by Entagma - but instead I grouped points that I wanted growth to be concentrated on in order to specify growth at a specified location. But it hasn't worked yet! the simulation goes quite erratic for some reason. I will keep trying. Any ideas?
  2. Growth animations?

    Hi all, I’ve been able to make fairly random recursive growths but these are next level with the detailed precise in the ridges and expansion. in the comments of this last post for instance, the author suggests it’s the use of curveu & poly extrusion. Could anyone elaborate on this? Ideally I could read about VEX and curveU somewhere to understand better but I am yet to find a resource like this. I feel it might be easier to grasp these concepts through an example though, so if anyone could explain the above animations that would great! If not pointing me to something to read/watch would also be amazing! thanks in advance ODforce :-)
  3. @d3wo thanks for the response! I am afraid that hasn't worked - I've made a new geo mode and object merged the alembic file and applied the material as I normally do which is by using a material node within the Geo obj. and linking to a material in the SHOP network? - Perhaps you have a different usual method? Or maybe it doesn't work for alembic files? As I don't really understand why an object merge would change the issue - thanks for the help anyway let me know if I've got something twisted.
  4. Hi all, Excuse my lack of understanding, however I have attempted to google with no avail. I have an alembic file that I've imported however I cannot for the life of me work out how to assign/apply a material to it - using the material node doesn't work. I've read about unpacking or converting the alembic but this doesn't alter what I'm seeing on the render. There must be a simple solution? If it helps, I'm using Houdini 17.5.173 and Redshift 2.6.41. ~ If anyone has some ideas please comment! Thanks

For an Ocean scene, does anyone have recommendations for how to produce micro-organisms / detail to ocean waters such as the following: How does one create these floating 'bits' that create real detail and life to an underwater based animation?
