  1. Hair revisited

Did anyone try to implement paper "Efficient Implementation of the Dual Scattering Model in RenderMan" by Iman Sadeghi? I am trying and don't know how to compute the average forward and backward scattering attenuations af and ab for equations 3 and 10 of the paper? Does anyone know how?
  2. how to render Houdini fur using 3delight

I tried to render fur. http://www.atap3d.com/2009/07/ifur.html you can see sources
  3. whether there is point on primitive?

    I have solved a problem so. pointDist_atap3d.hip
  4. whether there is point on primitive?

Good example. Thank you very much. The solution true not up to the end. If point is not on one of primitives, your example leave nearest to point primitive. It should not be. If point is not on one of primitives, all primitives should be removed.
  5. Hi. I have a lot of primitives and one point. I want to make following actions with each primitive: if point is not on primitive, it's necessary to remove this primitive. How to know, whether there is point on primitive?
  6. Thank you, brianburke. How can I bake more than 2 attribute in point cloud? In pcwrite node there are only two attributes(channels) for bake.
  7. Thank you. All points have appeared. But if normal of point isn't turned to the camera, shader on this point doesn't execute. How to make, that shader has executed on all points?
  8. Hi. I want to ask a question about baking in mantra. I will describe my actions because I am not assured of their correctness. Shader which I use for baking looks so. Shader which I use for reading baking data looks so. If I render scene for baking and then I render scene for reading baking data, everything will look normally. But if I change camera orientation and render this with reading shader, there will appear black areas. It is correct. Because on back side of surface are no points. In renderman I will easy add missing points by addition of three attributes in rib: Attribute "cull" "backfacing" [0] Attribute "cull" "hidden" [0] Attribute "dice" "rasteroriented" [0] Whether there is a similar option in mantra? I have one more small question. How can I bake more than 2 attribute in point cloud? In pcwrite node there are only two attributes(channels) for bake.
  9. renderman light shader in houdini

for using of custom renderman light shader, you should use light template object. light shader can be imported like as surface shader (file->install digital asset library)
  10. how can i convert *.pc to *.i3d

I can't read my .pc data. I do not know how to do this. How can I read my .pc data? What nodes should I use for this? I can only write data.
  11. renderman co-shaders in houdini

I found node "Merge Co-Shader". What is it? Why it is needed? How to use this node? I have not found any information about this node in houdini help.
  12. Anyone knows how to use renderman co-shaders in houdini 10? Where can I read about this? I have not found any information in houdini help.
  13. how can i convert *.pc to *.i3d

I mean Houdini->Mantra In prman reading brickmaps occurs faster, than pointclouds. And if I will use the brickmaps the memory expense will be more economic. And if it hard to notice on a small scene, on big scene render will much faster. It seems to me that in mantra all will occur similarly. Am I not right? No. How?
  14. how can i convert *.pc to *.i3d

I need bake and read such as renderman. It is very easy and fast. 1 - bake pointcloud (bake3d). 2 - convert to brickmap (brickmake). 3 - red brickmap (texture3d). How to do something similar in houdini?
