    Hello, I want to render and export my simulation as a video; however, the first time I tried to render it, it succeeded but I cannot save it as a video, the error statement was shown as the first screenshot; the second time I tried to use mantra and directly render it to disk, but it gave me another warning shown as the second screenshot. Does anyone know how to solve the problem, or what is the best way to export my simulation as a video? Thanks in advance!!

    Do you mind teach how to set the parameters in mantra if I want to render to disk a sequence of frames? I am not sure the output device can be JPEG? My simulation is relatively large that may render for a long time...
  5. Hello, I am simulating a semi-sphere with shells of different colors as shown in the attached screenshot. However, I found that the colors on the ramp was not shown completely on my cross-section of the semi-sphere, what is the proper way I should do it instead of shifting all my color points to the left? Also, when play the simulation, it needs very long cooking time for each frame, is there a way to cook all frame once, then it run smoothly and fast for later play? aerosol water loss final version.hipnc

    Yes, it looks better, but there are still grids can be seen on the surface. I am wondering why there is no grids on your "sphere volume colors" file? Thanks!

Hello, The visualization I want to achieve is to color my sphere volume shells by shells, which was successful by using a color node and using programming to modify its parameters; then, I want to cut a quater or a half of the sphere (it was achieved by Vexpression shown in screenshot 1) so that the shells of color contrast can be more obvious to be seen, like seeing a cross section. However, what I noticed was that the color seems to be set again based on the new volume obtained after removing a part of the sphere by using volume wrangle node. This was noticed from the second screenshot attached, there should be half of the shells with bright color just like the color ramp gradient shows. Could someone provide another way to achieve my visualization? Thanks in advance!!

    Thanks so much! I tried with the help of your workflow settings, it works for my color. The expression I used for color attributes were set in python source panel, as I attached in screenshot. There is only one defect I found, that the final sphere is covered by white color outside, I do not know which parameter I should adjust, I tried to move black color on diffuse ramp in volume visualization node, it becomes better. But I noticed your sphere's outer look is smooth, could you help to take a look? Thank you~ aerosol water loss final version.hipnc

    I found the answer to my first question somewhere else, I will share here~ The color attribute in color node can be set with specific expression by using a statement like: parms[i+3].setExpression('point("../attribwrangle", $F, "waterCd{}", 0)'.format(j)) The whole script worked on my color node is attached as the screenshot~ Hope someone can take it as a reference in the future!
  10. Hello, I got two specific questions in simulation right now, as they were described in title. First, I want to use python node to program a few lines of statement that could add color points on the ramp of my color nodes, since I need to add 200 points in order to give my geometry layers of different colors. (I only know the syntax of how to set node's attribute values with Python, but I did not find out the syntax that can tell the node automatically add points) Also, as my first screenshot shows, I want to know how to set values to color vector, since color parameter's name is “rampcr#rampgr#rampbr#”, I don't know how to syntax that with values and expressions. The second question is about generating a bounding box in order to delete exactly half of my volume, but I want the effect operated in the end of my network, because I want the color be set well(i.e. color changes from shell to shell of my spherical volume), and then cut it half, make the cross section of my spherical volume be seen, so that the rings of different colors could be seen more obviously~ I used a delete node as the second screenshot shows, but it did not work, it seems all my volume was disappeared, the whole volume was ghosted in the scene so that you can see what I constructed. I don't know if I set something wrong or I should use another node to achieve my final effect? It is ok if you can only solve one of my questions, I would be grateful. Thanks a lot in advance!
  11. I found the fastest way to use python code to control tableimport node, so that importing columns of data could be achieved but not manually add them. We can use a python node, with coding a few lines and a for loop in the script window, it controls all parameters you want to edit in tableimport node! Yeah!
  12. In order to write code in SOP python node, do I need to have a python software in my local computer? Because I tried to write some code in python node to import my data files, it seemed not working. What I have coded is attached. Thanks!!

    Hello, after going through this thread, I tried these lines in my script, I have a question that how you added points in "geo.points()"? I have created my point attributes already in Houdini, but I think by using "for point in geo.points()", I need to add my created points into geo.points()? Otherwise it is a empty object by default?
  14. Hello, I am simulating a data driven project. Say I have a volume node that generated a sphere volume, I also have 200 columns data that will fit into 0 - 10 range, and these 0 - 10 values will be used to generate different 200 color point in the color ramp slider in volume visualization node, and the effect I want to achieve is that 200 shells of spheres are colored based on 200 column data, and each shell's color also changes based on each row's data in each column. Like the screenshot I attached here, but I need more color points. What I want to do definitely needs coding, but I don't know where I could code to manipulate volume visualization node. Hope someone could help! This seems boring, but I really need some inspiration for my project~ Many thanks in advance!!!

    Yah, I know it may sound confusing. Let's say I have 200 columns data read in Houdini as attributes through tableimport node, as the first picture attached (I have not imported them all). Then, I fit all data in each column into range 0 - 1, so I can get another 200 column data in range 0 - 1, these columns of data will be used to change color so I will call them color attributes for the following illustration. (I achieved this before, but I lost my memory... but it is doable, I will recover that later) For coloring part, I mean I want to create 200 nodes in color point in volumevisualization node (but I think there is better way than manually set up 200 points), and each color point will use a expression like "point("../..", $F, "name of color attribute",0)". In this way, it's like my sphere have 200 shells, and each shell's color will change color as frame goes, the change of color is based on rows of data in each column (each column corresponds to one color attribute column). Again, I achieved this using point() expression, but I forgot how, if you could provide a way that would also be perfect. The main problem is that is there any way much simpler than manually adding points? I do not know if my logic of achieving the effect is too complex, hope there is a better way to do this?     Thank you~ So I think my 200 data should be your pscale? I am not really clear about how your colored was controlled, is it controlled by the random pscale? Also, noticing you used a volume slice node, if my final effect should be a sphere, what should I do?
  17. Thanks, but I think I got the reader part good. My problem is that I cannot assign each column read in to the attribute in Houdini, as you can see there is only the first column assigned to my first created attribute, it seems like my outer for loop "for int j in range (200)" did not work, I do not know what is the right way to assign all my columns to attributes correspondingly~
  18. Yeah, I just want to read in my csv files, I think reading part works well. But I also would like to extract each column and then assign each column to a attribute created in Houdini. I have already created my empty attributes, but only one column was successfully assigned to created attribute, I do not know why the other columns were not assigned to attributes. I think there might be some problems with my for loops code at the end of the script.
  19. Yah, since I have 200 columns, I guess I still need codes. Because although I can change "column number", but for each column, I need to manually change 200 of them and naming each one? There should be an easier way? Thanks anyway, I can search more and wait for further help~

  21. Thanks so much! I am not familiar with python, just watched video and coded this. Continue with my problem, if I would like to import csv files, for the final reading of all data, I think it needs a for loop? What I have tried to do is to extract each column (200 columns in total) to each attribute with name "conc%d"%(j). But it seemed not working properly, only one column is imported. The 200 empty attributes were successfully imported, though. Many thanks in advance!

I want to color my sphere with created vector attributes, and let it change frame by frame based on the points of color vector I created as shown in the geometry spreadsheet. It should be easy to do?   25. Hello, My simulation topic is a bit science-related. But the model idea is simple. I want to have a sphere that is not empty inside, I do not know is I should use a vbdfrompoly node or a volume node, if using volume, what parameter should I adjust to give sphere a solid interior? Then, I would like to give a ramp color based on the distance from the center of the sphere, which is changing from dark to light from the centre to the surface of the sphere, so this needs my sphere to be seen through, I do not know should I use alpha or any other parameter to achieve this visual effect. Lastly, I would like the overall color darkness to change based on my data, the more bigger my data is, the darker the overall color is, so my first thought is to use fit01 to fit the column of data I have, but how to change the overall color's darkness based on the data is my question. Thanks in advance! If you can only answer partial of my question, please help!
