  1. Snow plowing using Wet Sand or Vellum grains solver

Hi there! Beginer user here! This might be usefull. I watched this tutorial before for a similar effect. Steven is a great teacher https://www.cgcircuit.com/tutorial/applied-houdini---particles-v . I can't answer your question though. I never used grains before.
  2. Hi there! I'm still new to houdini and I'm having a lot of trouble on a project and was wondering if I could have some help or at least some direction on how I could achieve this effect. The project is to simulate a pool of lipstick with a rotating animated object in the center. To resemble the lipstick viscosity I wanted to make a very dense fluid/particle sim, with some clumps of even denser material. Here's the best reference I could find for the effect https://youtu.be/zBGgfPXwLMQ?t=165 . I tried to make a Flip sim with high viscosity and create a viscosity map with a noise sop for those extra viscous chunks, but I couldn't make clumps like I wanted to. I don't even know if the Flip solver is the best tool for the job, but I couldn't think of anything that would get me closer to what I wanted. I also tried to create a few pieces of RBD objects in the middle of the pool, but it didn't work at all. I just really have no idea if I'm on the right direction. I'll add the hip file aswell as a flipbook of the meshed sim. I am using 18.5 by the way. Any help or direction is appreciated. Thank you! lipsticktest.mp4 LipstickPool.hiplc
  3. Oh! Wow, I had no idea! Thank you so much!
  4. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to Houdini and I'm trying to add some trails to a particle sim with dying particles. I tried using the old trick of using a Trail SOP and then an Add SOP set to id, but it's still not working. I don't know why but the Add SOP just straight up ignores the id after the first particle dies and connects random points. I've tried making a whole new sim in a brand new file and the error still occurs. I followed a few forum posts and a video tutorial on this method, so I'm pretty sure I'm not just messing this up on some setting. Might be some error on the version of Houdini I'm using? I'm using Houdini 18.0.348. Also Houdini gives me is a weird warning on the DOP network that says "Bad geometry blend due to mismatched point or primitive counts.". I didn't find any results to what this could be, and it shows up no matter what geo I source in. I've attached a file with a test scene giving the same errors. Thanks in advance!
