  2. Hi, So I am thinking about creating the velocity in node geo1 and move the points in node geo2. The problem is, I want to change the velocity each frame so i have a solver node in geo1. let's call it solver1. when i want to move points in geo2, i created another solver node, solver2. I am thinking about simply reading the velocity in solver1 and use it in solver2, like using getattrib. However, I am not sure at each time frame what is the order of execution. How can I ensure that at each time frame solver1 is executed before solver2? Thanks!
  3. Hi, I want to control the movements of the particles on the surface by some velocity that I specified myself. I have looked up some posts here and I have tried to implement the particles along surface effect using pop network. However, it is not working as I want. I don't understand why my vex code over here is causing the surface to move too, I want the particles to move along the x-direction but only on the original geometry position, is this not the right way to do it?

I saw in this post here https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/27170/?page=1#post-125254 that houdini has tools similar to staggered grids but the post seems to be pretty out-dated and I didn't find what it said. So I wonder if it is possible to store values on the edges or faces of a volume instead of on the vertices. Thanks!

Here I attached a screenshot of my volume h and the error message If possible, can you also explain to me what's the relationship between prev_frame and input_1 or guide me to where I can learn about it myself?
  6. Hi, I have a general question about the workflow of houdini of solver node. I created a volume with a vector field called h, and I tried to update h at each time step using a solver node, and then I tried to print using a python node to see if h got modified, but it is not, it is still the initial value. Can someone explain to me why this is the case? Thanks a lot!
  7. I see. This is very helpful! Although is it possible to do this if we don't convert it to vdb before the solver node? I want to determine how the vector field change myself so right now I have a wrangle node inside my solver, and I am not sure if this is still possible if we use vdb advection node instead
  8. Hi, I am a total newbie to houdini (math student trying to make some simulation here) and I wonder if there's a way that I can update attributes of 2 geometry in solver node. Basically I created a volume node and used it to represent a self-advecting vector field (I do the update in a solver node) and I want to create particles that uses this vector field as its velocity and move around the volume. I feel like this really should be a simple task but I have been stuck for several days and haven't figured out how to deal with it. Any help will be much appreciated!
