  1. vex volume procedural not working on points.

Hi anupamd, here is a simple hip file to setup rendering any polygon ( points includes) as volume in Houdini. The key element is the vop shop properties node with the extended parameter, uniform volume, which forces Houdini to evaluate the geometry as volume and shade accordingly. feel free to ask if any question Cheers Lucien uniform_volume.hip

Hello Juzwa Very cool work and I like what you have in mind. Would you mind sharing what you have so far. Cheers Lucien
  3. Houdini RBD RnD - Deforming & Tearing

Hi, @druidl,you could use the cloth deform like in his hip file, but you run the risk of soft deformation. Another way is to derive a matrix from the piece and apply it to the fracture. Very nice workflow, any idea about the cake deforming,it looks to me like a glue network that goes through a wire SIM. Cheers Lucien
  4. Alright SYmek, ill drop him a message, thanks for the tip. Cheers Lucien
  5. hi Im not bulding with hcustom as its a nuke plugin using Houdini Libs How can I get read of the def for win32? thanks
  6. Hi folks, Im having an issue with compiling a rat reader for Nuke using H11 library. Im having a Win related issue because I already compiled successfully this tool on linux. I was wondering if one of you already come throught the error of the SYS_NTMath.h on Win and if you have a workaround... Do you guys know if there is any change for this file between H11 et H12? my configuration is as follow: Win7 64 bits Nuke6.3v2 64 bits H 11.0.733 64 bits Visual studio 2005 here is what i get as log of error: c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2146: syntax error : missing ')' before identifier 'x' 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2065: 'x' : undeclared identifier 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2059: syntax error : ')' 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2182: 'srand' : illegal use of type 'void' 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2433: 'srand' : 'inline' not permitted on data declarations 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(64) : error C2365: 'srand' : redefinition; previous definition was 'function' 1> C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\include\stdlib.h(550) : see declaration of 'srand' 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(65) : error C2447: '{' : missing function header (old-style formal list?) 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(66) : error C2062: type 'double' unexpected 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(67) : error C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before '{' 1>c:\program files\side effects software\houdini 11.0.733\toolkit\include\sys\SYS_NTMath.h(67) : error C2447: '{' : missing function header (old-style formal list?) any help much appreciated! 7. Newbie Cloth

Hi everyone, this is my first post on odForce and i'm very glad i was introduced to this very high level houdini place of exchange. Here is my problem, i want to simulate a clothing piece let's say a cape onto a moving character. I face many challenges for me here, and i want to find some help. Here are the few topics that i need help about: -how do you set up a rest position, is it using the initial state file field in the DOP network parameter? -my cloth is way too unstable, always moving, i tried to use a RDB state node and multiply the vel by a spare parameter, which didn't work for me, but anyway i'd like to find a way to make it come to a rest a position, without any movement and then have the character to interact with it and bring movement again. Can i paint some attribute to have more rigidity on part of my mesh? So here is my first problems met in cloth solving in Houdini! Great package but this cloth tool i think need very high skill to be bent to one's will So anyway, can someone help me? would be very appreciated... Lucien
