  1. Hi all, I'm exploring Houdini Crowds and would need FBX cycles to test my scene. Can someone point to online FBX resources or any personal FBX cycles, free to use for testing and learning. Thanks in advance

  3. Arunkumar - FX TD - Reel 2019

Hi guys, I'm an FX TD looking for challenging VFX opportunities. Please take a look at my reel, and get in touch. Would love to discuss about prospective collaborations and/or full-time work. Comments, suggestions and critiques are most welcome and would help me improve the reel. Thanks.. Arunkumar arunkumar.subramanian@gmail.com
  4. I'm copying 1000 coins into a rbdpacked, obj, falling on floor.. Once they settle down, I want them to do a backflip and fall revealing the other side. Any ideas? I tried pushing with forces but the backflip has to be once i.e exactly 180degrees, with the same rbd interaction.. any help would be appreciated..
  5. H16 on Quadro 600 - basic pyro render takes minutes

Can I go for i7 8700k, as it seems to be within my budget? i7 8700k 32gb ram and 1060gtx 6gb, with a512gb SSD
  6. Hi all, My rig is i5 3570k, 24gb ram, Quadro 600. No problems with Maya renders, but Houdini takes forever to render, even a basic Sphere(1mins) or pyro(2min) or flip. Edit: it was the Preview mode render that was taking so long. Switching off - sphere renders at 45secs, still exhorbitant.. billowy smoke at 1min.. Looking to change to GeForce GTX 1060 6gb.. is Quadro 600 the culprit or is it the 3570k i5 proc and will the 1060 go well with the i5 3570k, and help me with faster renders? Or any other suggestions?
  7. How to get the Noise stuck to an object?

hi.. thanks a million.. it works for the particles copied onto popnet.. is there a way with billowySmoke (noise ON) applied to particles to give a similar output? ~Arun
  8. How to get the Noise stuck to an object?

Hi.. got a sample file ready.. Has a bunch of spheres copied onto a popnet ( can ignore vdbFromPolygons, 'cos this seems to be a particle issue). Plus Two frames of TestRenders to visually understand the issue... An animated sphere(not included in scene) renders with a proper noise position, but particles swim through the same noise.. ~Arun testSmoke_Noise.hip
  9. Hi guys, I'm copying spheres to a popnet, and have a BillowySmoke Material applied. In render, the particles seem to be swimming through a noise pattern, but, in fact, I would want the noise stuck to each of the particles. I tried adding a restPos to AANoise, with object space. Still no success.. Also, tried other spaces like camera, world - still no effect. Also, when I turn ON Do Noise of BillowySmoke, I get the same texture-swimming issue ( i.e Noise appears to be projected on top of my particles, when I need each particle to be textured by the noise ). Is there a way to get the texture attached to each particle/object? Any help would be greatly appreciated, 'cos I'm literally pulling out my hair as we speak .. Thanks, Arun
