    Symmetry is when you select components symmetrically, when you split polygons symmetrically, etc. Even with mirror option turned on in the Edit SOP, sculpt mode, for example, destroy symmetry information. But Sculpt SOP works well in this case. All this means that Houdini does not have usable symmetrical modeling.

    1. Add hou.ViewerEvent.ray() and hou.ViewerEvent.snappedRay() functionality to hou.GeometryViewport class to use it not only from custom states 2. Get mouse coordinates relative to the current viewport bottom left corner 3. Same as hou.ViewerEvent.snappedRay() but function (or argument) that returns real snapped position instead the viewport camera position, like hou.SceneViewer.selectPositions

    How to use hou.GeometryViewport.mapToWorld() if the scene viewer is set to non-single layout. I can get mouse position with Qt, but can't calculate offset for different layouts. Works well in single persp mode

    DM 2.0 has: 1. 'Edit Mesh' menu which is not destructive and you can change values later 2. Modeler tool is fully Stash SOP based. Your geo container will die when you run Modeler tool DM 1.0 has only menu based non destructive modeling

    As noted above, it is better to use the local extrude feature. I just wanted to show how to do it in loop. Local extruding (without loop) has better performance.
