  5. Hello there! I'm having kind of a hard time to solve what seems to be preety straightforward. I'm using a grid, with a point vop to displace some points on it, but I can't seem to get the displace texture animated. I'm loading it to the texture sequence in texture; if I load a single frame, it works, but with the sequence nothing shows up. Heeeeelp! Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello guys. I have a few questions about smoke sim in Houdini. I tried many times smoke sim. But I can't make smoke sim. Besides I can't come up with emit smoke from RBD sim.   10. Hi all! I'm currently sitting with some superbasic POP sims to brush up on everything after a long time away from Houdini. My issue is, as the title depicts, that I have problems with stepping even though - to my knowledge - this scene shouldn't suffer from it. I have three spheres as sources, they don't move at all. The top velocity of the particles peak at about 0.9 in the geometry spreadsheet, it travelled about 1.2 meters in 42 frames, so no extremes velocities exactly (or I am just very uninformed and would love to be enlightened!). I tried every combination of birth jitter in the POP Source and found very little difference, the ones displayed below became the final ones. Attaching images of my solver settins, birth settings and a render. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Jack

  13. Hey all, Im trying to get a peeling effect on an arm for a shot I was asked to work on at school. I looked all around and found some different techniques to use but when set up completely nothing works, if anyone has any idea if some attributes changed in H16 or can look through the Hip and tell me what I'm doing wrong that would be fantastic. shot_48_02.hipnc
  14. hi all so heres one for you - we all love the kaleidoscopic mirror dimension.. and the cool portals and wotnot in Dr strange... BUT can anyone suggest any ideas for how to tackle this really cool but very quick effect in houdini? At 28 seconds we see Kaecilius sort of reverse backwards into various slices as he does so.. I think its a really cool effect and one i would like to try suss out for a cg character. My thoughts are to bring alembic cg dude in, run him through a vdb and back to polys, then use a copy sop and a grid to create slices in the mesh... much like this cool tut... but how do i get that frame offset effect where you can see the slices are running at different frame times ? dunno if i'm explaining it well but does anyone have any ideas? Its something i'd love to crack! ta Ant

  16. Hi Guy, I am working on a project, it is a fractured wooden logo that I need to explode the pieces and then get them back together which turns to another logo. So, the second logo has to be created from the pieces of first logo. What would be the best way to do such a effect?
  17. Hi there, There was an effect i'm interested to. And I try so hard to simulation it, But I'm feel so confuse about that. In the commercial video , around 6s-8s , there are pieces rocks on the ground and roll or stick together to be a shape of phone. I try to do the same effect in houdini , I shattered an object then do a rigid body and let it collapse on the ground , then cache the result and reverse it. But, It look like time reverse but not like what I was think about. I've researched lots of keywords but still can't work , maybe someone can give me some tips about this.

  19. Hello magicians, I'm stuck in a R&D for a client, been trying to do a particle behavior for 5 days without success. Heres a video gif of the latest client ref: http://i.imgur.com/dvtTkL1.gifv Also attached is some early image references the client sent but I would like to focus on the gif one.   20. Hey peeps, I'm new to houdini and trying to create a fur effect. I'm following the video on the SideFX page, but I ran into a problem that's probably very simple, but problematic for a beginner: when I select limit to bounding box, the box isn't there. Now I don't know if it's just not visible and I need to zoom it on it (though I tried selecting the move tool to see if it would become visible) or if it's just not there. I imported a 3D model from maya if that's an important factor. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm trying to create a looping animation of water spiling on the ground, so that it repeats itself every 60 frames , but im stuck at the part that where I need to blendshape the last frame and the first frame since I can't find anyway for the points to be blend shaped to their nearest relative point. waterfallloop.hip

Hi guys, I new in Fx i do lighting in houdini now i am learning.I have stucked somewhere, for that need your help. i have infinite pattern design of particle dots. . . . . . . . # . # . # . # . # . # . . . . . . . . # . # . # . # . # . # . . . . . . . . i am generating this pattern from texture. particles from texture. those are static particles not emitting or moving, now i want to emit particles from dot and those dots will create another design ( . > # ). and dots will disappear. here comes problem, how to tell particles to go where and generate which design. as u can see above. each dot will emit particles and will go to three sides and generates the design. any suggestion?
