  2. Hello everyone, Welcome to procedural modeling in Houdini. The idea behind this training was to take a character model and then generate an armour or a second skin on top of it completely procedurally, and also have the armour or skin design change every frame to give you multiple variations. For more information kindly click on the link given below https://www.rohandalvi.net/procedural regards Rohan Dalvi
  3. Peter Claes - Youtube channel

Hi all, As some of you may know I have recently started a youtube channel where I am sharing some techniques, setups and tips. My goal is to first cover some of the fundamental tools/setups and then build more elaborate setups. I wanted to share this with the odforce community too as this community will always have a special place in my heart :). Thank you for watching & have fun learning! The channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZMPkkgnAFghvffxaTh6CsA My first video:

  7. So, I'm still learning the ropes of Houdini. I have been following a series of YouTube tutorials on vellum cell replication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIog_V8kv4Q) and I've got to the 45 min on this second tutorial, and I am now insanely stuck. I realise in my scene vs in the tutorial the gap between the left and right cell pieces I don't have as large a gap. I think this is what is causing the sim to go bonkers as I think despite everything in place so far the geometry is colliding. I'm just not sure on how to prevent this/how to increase the distance between the left and right side so the geometry stops colliding and ruining the whole sim. I have gone through every node time and time again, and as far as I can tell I have followed the tutorial EXACTLY. My end goal is to create an embryo (only on basic cell division level) and its literally doing my brain in. PLEASEEEEE HELP ME!!! Thanks! (Have attached scene file, so you can probably tell me alllll about the glaring error I've overlooked haha) cellsofvellum07.hipnc
  8. Hello Everyone, I have just create tutorial of making nuclear cooling tower destruction using new features of constraint in Houdini 17.5 Check in here: https://www.cgcircuit.com/course/nuclear-cooling-tower-destruction Best Regards, NhanVo
  9. Hi I made a 2 part video tutorial on FLIP Tank simulation and the other one is about how to render the simulation. They are both targeted for beginners level. The first video is titled, "FLIP Tank Basics for Beginners" and demonstrates how to setup a FLIP Tank sim and how to use the Waterline feature. I explain how to setup the FLIP Tank so you can actually see what's going on inside the container in the 3D viewport when you cook the dopnet before you render. The Waterline feature will allow you to simulate the fluid so that it passes through the boundaries of the container. The 2nd part of video tutorial is on how rendering and how to render out the FLIP tank scene from the first video. It's titled, "FLIP Simulation Render Setup in Houdini". This video is also targeted for a beginner level. I talk about the difference between DOP Import vs DOP I/O. And the concept of inputting data into the dopnet simulation and how we need to extract data out of the dopnet sim into another context for rendering. I'm still finding my style in teaching, if you have any comments please feel free to give me some feedback. And if you have a topic you want to see, feel free to post that in the comments as well. I might not get to it right away because it takes a lot of time to edit these videos, but it will come eventually. Thanks!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask
  15. I've recently started using Houdini coming from a Grasshopper/Rhinoceros + Architectural background and quickly I realized it's such a great tool for parametric & procedural design for modeling some geometrical shapes which sometimes GH is not good at. I'm planning to post tutorials for Houdini to following Facebook page and Youtube channel as my note how to make geometries I'm interested in. 18. I'm having a problem with a RBD simulation. I followed Applied Houdini Rigids 3 for the setup and everything finally worked. Now I would like to work on an actual scene, using an animated alembic instead of animating in houdini with a null. But I can't see what to change or to adapt in the setup to get Houdini to read this animation and make the switch to physics work like in the original setup. Importing my abc and switching every cache to store a frame range instead of a single one might mess with the constraint system, any ideas?
  19. Finally finished this example that's been sitting on my backburner. It's a really simple demonstration of how you can use the Pose Tool and Pose Scopes to get invisible rigs and motion paths in Houdini. Has anyone used them in production, by chance? What's been your experience? Caveat: that hip file is definitely NOT an example of good rigging practice, by any means! 20. Hello everyone I am a VFX artist for a small video game company called eigenverse. We have created some tutorials showing a bit of our vfx workflow for the current projects we are working on. This most recent video focuses on getting a "pigsplosion" from Houdini into unreal engine. We have several other tutorial videos on our youtube page ranging from beginner to advanced and we would love if you would check them out.

  22. Houdini Terrain Pipeline Vol 2

Hey All! The first part of this tutorial has been available for almost a year now, but because of the sad news that hit CMI, I was unable to upload the 2nd "half" there. So instead I just made it available on Youtube for everyone, to make up for that I suppose. I'm considering putting the first part on there as well, if enough people want that. In this tutorial covers the following, using Houdini * Generating water meshes * Updating the terrain based on the water * Generate walking paths on the terrain * Create some basic instances * Build a flexible system using external files to place these instances. Built on Houdini 16.5, but should work on 16 too, or all the way back to H14 if you skip the heightfield part. Recommended specs: at least 16GB of RAM, reduce the terrain size if you have less. Disclaimer: Work files are as is, and do not contain the cached geometry to save on space, this may explain node errors on the various "File Cache" nodes. It does however also contain the work done in the first half of the tutorial, albeit mostly undocumented: https://tinyurl.com/y89egjvq Hopefully its of some use! Twan
  23. Hello everybody! I am glad to present you my latest tutorial “Liquid pixels simulation. Houdini tutorial”.
  24. Hi, I was following this tutorial from pluralsight about architectural destruction in houdini and I am stuck at a part where I used a sphere to visualize a destruction of the building however instead of destroying the building pieces starts to fly diagonally upwards. I tried everything but cant come up with a solution. Please help. As far as I can tell the problem exists inside the geometry vop which is inside of dopnet which is inside of sim obj node. I will be highly obliged . Thanks@! destruction.hip
  25. Hi, Im stuck at place where I have copied to points a set of spheres and I want to randomize it on the basis of $PT? I tried to make an attribute by the name of id but it is not working
