  1. Hy guys! This is my entry for the HOUDINIMATIC Challenge #5: Halloween Rules: Free subject on the theme of Halloween, 1-month deadline. The result had to be a sequence and everything had to be done under Houdini except the compositing and the modeling if it does not lend itself to the procedural (the tree in my case). Specs: Intel Core i7 2600K@3.4GHZ, 32GB RAM Dev: Layout: 1d / Spiderweb: 4d / Leaves: 6d / Candles: 4d / Dirt: 3d / Fog: 1d Rendered with Karma (BETA). Rendertime: 5d16h30m This was a great challenge experience and perforce, the occasion to learn new techniques during the project. Huge thanks to the community for the feedback and tips to improve the shot! Characters by Mixamo. 2. Hi folks ! Is ACEScg rendering usefull for volume rendering ? I was reading more about ACEScg in general (still abstract for me at this point) : https://chrisbrejon.com/cg-cinematography/chapter-1-5-academy-color-encoding-system-aces/ And it seems, from the article, to give good results in color saturation and GI so i am planning to implement aces in htoa to do some tests. Have you guys already tested ACEScg in houdini, especially for volumes ?
  3. Hi guys, I'm glad to share the breakdown of my last project with you! This was my submission for a challenge hosted by Houdinimatic Community. Hope you enjoy!
  4. Hello everybody, I have just met with the ACES workflow, and as I m new to it, I don't fully understand it. Could anybody tell me, if I need to convert to ACES color space a texture (specifically jpeg) in order to use it in Attribute from Map node? I know that we have to convert color (diffuse or albedo) textures and we should not convert data textures like bump and normal maps. But in case of Attribute from Map? I m confused as on one hand the Cd attribute (or any other attribute) derived by the node is a data. On other hand it is derived from colors. So the question is, to convert or not convert to ACES? Thanks in advance.
  5. I'm using Arnold and Aces (1.0.3). Our backplates are written out as Aces 2065-1. However there are no options to set the colour space when loading a background image in the render view. It seems to use the default output of the Arnold Rop which is AcesCG so the colours are slightly off. I thought maybe I could load it through COPs but again there are no real controls for setting the colour space (when using ACES). I can just project an image onto a grid as a backplate but does anyone have a way to colour correct the background image in the render view?
  6. Hello, I'm currently doing a render of my sim and when I try to export the sequence, it will stick with "classic" sRGB. However my goal would be to export it with the ACES color correction I have in MPlay. Do you think it is possible ? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hey guys ... we are looking into establishing an ACES pipeline, I was curious if Houdini had any sort of color management rules system similar to Maya. Here is a screen capture of the Maya implementation that applies rules to image types. We are going to start by using Arnold's .TX format to apply these rules to each image category. Thanks Mike
