  1. Hello everyone, I'm doing a simple packed RBD sim, and no matter how much I increase the fritcion parameters the objects never lose any velocity. Is this the expected behaviour? I've attached the .hip file. test.hip
  2. Hello; In a vellum simulation, I have a cloth and a collider object. I need the cloth slide on collider very easily (near to zero), but I don't know how to control friction. I set friction to zero, on vellum solver, but it doesn't work. Thanks.
  3. Hi, Does anyone know how to create variable friction for collision geometry when using particles In houdini. In maya or realflow you can create/paint friction maps. I was wondering what the houdini workflow is to create this. Thanks in advance, R.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm trying to simulate paper using vellum and I can't get the friction and drag right. I kind of got the result I wanted, though I still don't understand those values. By "those values", I mean static and dynamic friction and normal and tangent drag. I'm a really visual person and there's no example or graph that show's how this works on the Houdini documentation, so I thought that maybe one of you would be able to explain it to me ? Thank you.
  5. Hi, rebels! I`m currently looking into some Houdini flip RND and I got this shot where I need to paint friction attribute on one side, e.g the water falls faster on one side of the ground. Is this a straight forward thing or is it a bit of a pain in the "!$ due to the nature of water? I attached a test file so you guys can get a sense of what I`m talking about friction_water_test_v001.hip
  6. Hi all, I'm trying to create some physically accurate bullet sims using real world values for mass/density and friction, so I've been looking at some engineering tables for friction coefficients: http://roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Tribology/co_of_frict.htm What I'm confused about is this: It seems that real world friction is calculated based on the coefficient of friction between two objects, eg wood & wood has a friction coeff of 0.25 - 0.5; wood and concrete 0.62; wood and metal 0.2 - 0.6. So friction is not a material specific attribute, so if I have 3 houdini objects, one wood, one concrete and one metal, how do I create realistic friction settings for each combination when I can only set a single friction value per object? Is it even possible? Also, how does Houdini calculate friction coefficient between two objects? Does it multiply the friction values? Or average them? Any help is much appreciated Thanks in advance!
