  1. Hi all, I would much appreciate your advice with the following. I am thinking to start a Houdini course after September, and unfortunately at the moment I cannot afford to buy a new workstation. So I will be using my current laptop, ASUS TUF a15 which has: Ryzen 4800H, 16GB RAM, 500GB m.2 drive and RTX2060 GPU. The laptop has two m.2 slots. So I will be upgrading the ram to 64GB (maximum supported), and adding a second m.2 hard drive for files, cache etc. I am puzzled about the capacity of the second drive. Would 2TB be enough or I should go with more? Any other advice would be much appreciated Just to let you know that apart from the future Houdini course (and hopefully work), I am doing video editing in DaVinci and compositing in Fusion if that matters/affects any decision for upgrade. Many thanks! Kind regards, Nick
  2. Hay Community, Looking for a good laptop for RnD Houdini work. Thin and good performance does anyone have experience with Razer Blade or similar models?
  3. Hello guys, I wanted to ask for a suggestion for a good laptop. I won't work on Houdini everyday, so it's mainly for sometimes uses, and also be able to run it/simulate something (not too heavy). I know a workstation would be better, but I am travelling too much right now, would be impossible.. Dell 15.6'' ( this one cost 150 less) Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Processor RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 512 GB SSD Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB Razer Blade 15.6" Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Processor RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 256 GB SSD Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB I know the specs in the sidefx website says min GTX 1060, but maybe the 1050 ti will do fine as well. or not? What do you think between those two? Or do you have any suggestions for around the same price? Thanks!
  4. Hello people! I am buying a laptop workstation to use while traveling for a few months later this year and I don't know if I should buy a laptop with a Quadro or a GTX card in it. What are the pros & cons? (price excluded) Does Houdini run better in general on Quadro cards? Also, feel free to drop some laptop recommendations if you have any! I've got my eyes on a Dell Precision 7710. Best regards, //Simon
