anakin78z 0 Posted September 16, 2003 Alrighty, here's another challenge. It may look simple at first, but I found it kinda fun to do. Check out this animated gif, and reproduce the system. Guidelines: 1. The orange arm always stays the same length. 2. The light green connection can only move up and down. 3. The cylinder in the middle only rotates, and doesn't move. Ok, I think that covers it. Let's see how long it takes ya
FrankFirsching 3 Posted September 17, 2003 I accomplished it :-) My solution involved some tricky mathematics used in an expression. Well here is my video (Not nice, but it shows that it works) hip-file will follow later. SillyChallengeNo2_DivX.avi
glyph 0 Posted September 17, 2003 here's another one, slight cheating involved! but several expressions anyway my wheel drives the pistons/rods, dont know how your guys ones work.. mark c

talos72 0 Posted May 6, 2004 I am a relative Houdini newbie. How about posting some hip files for these cool contraptions?
bobster 0 Posted May 18, 2004 I'm relatively new to houdini. Can you guys post your hip files or at least give a description of how you did it. That would be greatly appreciated. There are certain things I'm getting through but it would be optimal to have one control drive the rig completely. Thanks a whole lot
Marc 281 Posted July 7, 2004 Alright guys... post your hipfiles... You can't leave it open like this
halion 0 Posted July 7, 2004 Heres mine, never bothered to render it out. Made with 7 or 6.5 I can't remember. sillychal2.zip
Mario Marengo 35 Posted July 7, 2004 Heres mine, never bothered to render it out. Made with 7 or 6.5 I can't remember. Hmmm.... Are you sure you uploaded the right file? ...coz I don't think that was the challenge
halion 0 Posted July 7, 2004 Woops I forgot that forgot to make the base legs. I'll fix that in alittle bit. Also I get these errors when I open the file after its moved from the directory that I originally saved it in.
edward 354 Posted July 8, 2004 Don't worry about those. Everything should still work.
halion 0 Posted July 8, 2004 Here it is again with all legs included this time. sillychal2.zip
deecue 1 Posted July 8, 2004 hey halion.. i think you got some issues going on with your solution.. you're damn close, just one little mistake to fix and you got it... of course i'm not gonna tell you what that is.. thats part of the challenge just closely look at the other results and then yours and pick apart what it might be. thanks for sharing dave
halion 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Doh! If I can't get it by next week will you give me a hint?

deecue 1 Posted July 10, 2004 wow.. thats some involved stuff you guys.. impressive here's my solution and image.. all expressions. HIP File halion: to point you in the right direction, think about "slipping" and how these things should be "locked" to eachother in some sort of sense... hope that helps and maybe these few last posted solutions will help as well.. let us know if you need some more pointers...
