Batch rendering with IPR?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

does anybody know if its possible to do a batch render with the IPR? (the same renderer that renders the preview window inside Houdini).

I searched and searched but couldn't find anything that states if it's possible or impossible.

:(

You can use the OpenGL Rop driver. It does the same thing as the IPR but can be used in a ROP network.

I tried, it doesn't look the same. I maxed out all settings still looks horrible, nothing like the rendered image I'm doing in the render window, unless there's some crazy trick to it. :(

The render view panel should output to IP or file the same image you have in IPR, provided its pointing to a Mantra rop and not the default IPR rop.

Yeah, but I want to batch render 400 frames like that, for some reason the IPR render is way faster than the normal batch rendering, which is (in my case) unrenderable. :(

You need to add rendering parameter Enable Preview (vm_preview). Also you can add Preview Mode (vm_previewmode).

I wonder if your ROP Output Driver that you tried had the render engine set to Micropolygon mode and that is the difference between ipr and your ROP rendering. Did you try setting the Render Engine to Raytracing in the ROP and give that a try?

IPR in preview mode uses raytracing which, depending on your geometry and scene set-up, can render faster than with micropolygon rendering enabled.
