Motion picture solutions for Linux

Recommended Posts

The guys at Heroine Virtual LTD have put toghether a nice suite of video, compositing and audio tools around a main application called Cinelerra.

I'm downloading the stable version right now but it looks awesome. Check their site for more information.

It's free software (both source code and license).

Check the other products on the left because they're integrated as well into Cinelerra.

Hey Miguel,

Thanks for the link! It looks really cool!

I was looking at the recommended specs & maybe I'll have to upgrade my machine. ;)

Darn... Even my Dual 1.2Ghz AthlonMP didn't even meet the required spec... Considering that I got them back in Oct.

well, it all depends on the resolution you're outputting to and on the effects of course, as well as the audio tracks etc.

I got it running this afternoon on my 900 athlon and it didn't feel like a sad old dated computer. I only worked with PAL size anyway.

I think those specs are for HDTV jobs and doing feature length movies. For example "200 GB storage for movie files" is more than enough for many projects.

That's my impression after a brief test drive anyways.

that's a different story. However it's a 7-8 Mb download and installing the rpm is a breeze. I'm sure a good lot of audio recording-mixing can be done on a dual 350. Even with a video track to do the audio-video sincing...
