How to UV unwrap polywire geometry?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have some curves (spirals, etc) that I surfaced using PolyWire, but I am not sure how to create UVs for these. I tired using Unwrap SOP on the curves but I couldn't get a good result. I was hoping I could AttribTransfer this.

Then I tried the default UVs provided by PolyWire but they look compressed. Should I be using PolyWire's UVs? If so, how can I create uncompressed/uniform look along the curve, as opposed to using point density for the scale of the UVs.

Thanks :)

Generate uv's on the curves before you polywire. Point attributes get transferred to the polywire shapes.

In case anyone else is looking for this, I just found a very elegant and simple solution: use the @ptnum attribute and @ptnum+1 for the V coordinate ! :)

I made a tool that does exactly this! It's free download. Fixes the both U and V coordinates mainly be looking at topology and connections.

Found here: PolyWire UVs — Richard C Thomas

Hope it helps!
