Loop Noise Seamlessly?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Most other animation packages have the ability to seamlessly loop noise. Does anyone know how to do this in Houdini?

I have a sphere followed up with a mountain to produce a cell-like object. I have animated the Offset of the mountain from 0-1 across my frame loop range. However, there is a jump in the animation because offset 0 and 1 are not in the same location.

here are 2 methods:

1. blending 2 noises (in this case your mountains) with different offsets so that 1st and last frames match (will loose amplitude in the middle which you can compensate for)

2. using Periodic perlin noise in VOPs

With the offset also you could link a sin+cosin "circle" into there and it should loop
