Stack of fishes. FEM or Grain?

Recommended Posts

Hello, everybody.

I Have to sim a big stack of dead fishes (~400) being spilled on the ground.

I tried to duplicate one fish and use grain sim but I have a lot of jiggleness and the init time to obtain my pile is pretty long.

Before going to far, is there a better approach?
Is Fem better for this?

Thank you.

fem will do this perfectly yeah.  check out this thread... its perfect for what you want.

btw i did a giant bowl of a 100 fem character meshes and it worked perfectly and sim'd quick too!  fem is definitely the way to go.

Many Thanks, it's seems very promising.

Is seems to be a little slower than grain sim.

you can also try the good old wire object

make the wire 'width' thick enough to represent your fish, then just sim the wires, capture/deform the fish with the wires:

used this here:
