denyas 0 Posted January 8, 2019 Hi guys, I simulated fumefx vdb with velocity channel in 3DSmax fumefx and i used maya arnold volume to import VDB. How do i render the the motion vector for the VDB ? i tried motion vector VDB and it doesn't work. any help would be great. thanks
Howitzer99 20 Posted January 8, 2019 I'm not familiar with importing FumeFX into Houdini, but internally for Houdini, it's expecting to have velocity as a vector parameter named "vel" for it to pickup and use motion vectors during rendering. Check which parameters are coming in from the FumeFX VDBs, you may need to just rename the velocity attribute. Here's a link from SideFX's site with some more info: https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/43574/

AlexNardini 20 Posted June 6, 2020 Hello, this reply came in very late but you can use this free HDA to handle FumeFX VDB caches inside Houdini, support from VDBs coming from FumeFX v5 and up: https://www.orbolt.com/asset/alexnardini::FFX_import::2.0 And use its companion HDA for any FumeFX VDB Layout needs: https://www.orbolt.com/asset/alexnardini::FFXVDD_import::1.0 Best, Alessandro
