Ptlined() In Vops?

Recommended Posts

I browse "essential renderman fast" trying to recreate some shaders in vops.

I'd like to create a line from point to point (surface context) but can't find ptlined() function.

I know it is present in vex but what with vops?

Is there any other function mimicing ptlined()??

Can i type it into inline vop?

Not that i so desperatly need it but I'm curious.

Ok, it's "distance point to line vop". Don't know how to create predictable lines yet, but I'll check it out while at home.

Vops are real fun!

It's easy but raised another problem. How to antialias it???

In RSL there is a smoothstep, what to do in vex?

Heres another version i like a bit more. but with all versions you have the problem that you have to set the shading quality way up to something like 4-6 to get rid of those breaks in the lines in mid distance.

I'm too weak yet to comment your help, but thanks for an indepth investigation :), I'll have to take a closer look though.
