Round extruded shape

Recommended Posts

How can I create the extruded shapes rounded squares and create the cut off area to where the extruded black squares are created as seen in the white areas ? I'd like to have control as to how round the black squares will be ?

If I create a grid, and loop over each primitive and add more points to each primitive edge, that will give me more points to work with; but I don't know how I will create the rounded shape, also keeping the shape to only all quads.

you can enable a bevel scale as a point attribute on the polybevel. this can give you a nice rounded bevel at the top and a hard square edge at the bottom.

If you mean as such, I'm getting the round edges along the side. As well I'd like to deform the edges of the primitive make them have some roundness.

here's a tip:

start with a square, bevel the corners, this gives you ULTIMATE control over the smoothness of the 4 corners. Extrude up.

Use this as your building block.

the sole shape is just a curve->boolean

Master building this building block first...the rest is just replication, boolean.

You simply created one cube and duplicated per primitive on the grid; if so, how ?

There is one twist, what if; rather then the squares be perfectly vertical and horizontal as they are on a grid, the cubes are angled ?

Angle Shmangle...as I said, master the building of your basic building block...cram as many customisations as poss into ONE unit of building block, then copy it a hundred times rather than having 100 separate studs and try to bevel, extrude, rotate, bool

did you make an actual start from beveling a square grid, extrude, like I suggested ?

it's not that hard....and it would help if you upload your actual progress/effort, just me personally, I'd be more inclined to help if I see someone has put in an effort.

All the parameters are not readable, why I ask. All I see is a simple square cube. Your scene has a merge instead of a polybevel, unless that is the issue in relation that it is a H18 scene.
