Connecting geos for vellum softbody

Hi everyone!  I'm trying to do a wind effect on this tree which has separated geos in grp.

I imported as fbx and made a vellum configure soft body with a POPwind attached to the solver. but when I start playing the separate geos breaks(of course?).

How can I make them stay in place? I'm using houdini 17.5
