Limiting the area to be noised

I want to keep the part of the hemisphere that is set on the ground and distort the shape only where y is greater than 1.
Is there any good way to do this?

there is plenty of ways of doing this. 

You can either use a "mask from geometry" sop node, attrib transfer, in vex, use MOPs, etc. Here is a quick one using the first method

However, I am getting the following error in disrance from geometry.


Warning 
This node is using an incomplete asset definition. It will not
function properly until the asset library containing the full
definition is installed.

what version of H are you using? unless you are using a build older than 16.5 should work, Just try to drop a new node.
