Better Ways To Export Dops' Result To Other 3d Packages

Recommended Posts

Hi,

What is the better way to export your dynamic simulation's result to other 3d packages ? I try exporting Obj sequences but it's an heavy process, not very optimized, and i'd like to know others solutions that you find guys to achieve this... There might be a way to export objects with animated transformations and not animated shapes...

I think many people do this in a big studios with an in-house scene formats which handles animation. Others just use Obj sequences with a few small tricks that help a bit (like exporting bgeo from houdini and then converting to obj aside on many computers). Another people use Martian Labs Glue - rib exporter/importer for Houdini.

At the end you can also export transformation curves for animated object what easily can be done with CHOPs. Of course this way starts to be tricky in case of big, multi objects simulation but with a careful setup (for both Houdini and target application) it's probably the most elegant way.

Thanks for your anwer... But for exporting transformation curves we need to get each "piece", of a fractured or glue rbd object, as a single object. How can I do that ???

There's a CHOP specifically for that, the "Dynamics CHOP".

The helpcard has a pretty good example of how to use it.

You can export DOP simulatio, or Particles with Metaballs, in other packages with FBX export...

I try DOP simulation of house colapse to import in Maya and work.

TRy particles with Metaballs to import in Maya and that work,

Houdini Ocena Toolkit on grid, export that in Maya with FBX.

and fliud simulation work.
